With all the different slot themes and features available these days, I assume most players are quite pleased. Some care about Free Spins, others hunt Multipliers while another group of players don’t really care about anything other than blinking lights and popping colors.
Personally I care very much about what features a slot has to offer. Sure, Tumbling Reels and Megaways can add to the excitement but if I’m being honest what I’m looking for the most is a Bonus Round and if there are two of them – even better.
Where is the Last Scatter?
It can drive me nuts trying to land that last scatter that will open the doors to Free Spins. Sometimes even question if it will ever happen or if the provider has taken it out of the equation completely just to mess with players. I’m sure you’ve had the same thoughts more often than you would have liked.
For this reason, I truly appreciate when a provider includes a Bonus Buy option. However, with the Bonus Buy feature also comes the question of – is it worth it?
What are Bonus Buy Slots?
I might be talking out of my a** here but I think I’ve noticed more and more of the new releases including the feature. It’s not always called Bonus Buy and can go under the name Feature Buy or even a couple of more variations.
So what is it and how does it work? Well, basically it gives players the option to take a shortcut and head straight to the Bonus Round. In most cases it would be a Free Spins game.
The reason why I’m such a big fan of the feature is because it means that you don’t have to spin the reels anymore, looking for non-existing scatters. The Bonus Buy is just one click away and holds the golden ticket that will take you straight to the bonus game.
What’s the Catch?
That’s a great question and of course there’s a catch. You know the old saying “nothing in life is free?” That’s the catch. If this is the route you choose to take the game will ask you to cough up some extra cash on top of your initial bet.
Because it’s a quick and easy way to the bonus game where you have a pretty good shot at winning big, the asking price will be higher. Normally I’d say the asking price will be somewhere between 30x all the way up to 500x.
The tradeoff is the fact that it guarantees immediate access to the bonus game or whatever feature it is used for.
Bonus Buy – Its Own Category
Crypto Casinos have become a lot better at making it easier for players to find the games they are looking for. Today, a lot of them will have a separate category for slots with Bonus Buy. Just click on the category and you’ll have a ton of games to choose from, all with your new favorite feature.
Some of the casinos that have given Bonus Buy its own category are:

BGaming needs you to cough up 100x your stake if you want to purchase some Free Spins in Kraken’s Hunger.
Is the Bonus Buy Feature Worth Paying For?
There’s no denying that the convenience of the Bonus Buy feature is the biggest reason for its popularity. It’s a nice feeling not having to worry about scatters, bonus symbols or whatever else is needed and instead head straight into the bonus features and the big wins.
Is it worth it? Not always. There are many times where I find the asking price being way too high. Obviously it depends on your account balance and how deep your pockets are and if you can afford it, go for it. However, since there’s never a guarantee that you’ll get your money back, don’t be afraid to say no thank you and head back to the game and chase the bonus round the old school way.
There have been times where I’ve taken a chance at a €20 buy-in and ended up leaving the bonus round with around €0.67. In other words, my advice is to be smart with your money.
I would say that if you’re on a budget or not in a rush, there’s really no need to use the Bonus Buy. On the other hand, if you are someone who wants the VIP treatment and immediate access to the bonus game, go for it.
My biggest thing is that I want the option to be there! Do you agree with me?
