Ladies and gentlemen, are you as excited as I am and ready to go with round 2? Fantastic!
I covered 5 popular themes just the other day and today you will see another 5. Today’s focus is Greek Mythology, ancient Egypt, Pirates, Animals and Magic.
1) Theme – Greek Mythology
Greek Mythology is a widely popular theme and the games keep on coming. Zeus may be the big boss but he’s not the only character getting some love from players.
Everyone from Athena and Hades to Medusa and the mighty Kraken all pull their weight and the games are normally all pretty good. You can see the spread of power in games such as Power of Gods: Medusa (Wazdan), Release the Kraken (Pragmatic Play) and Olympian Gods (Booongo).
Dare to face Power of Gods: Medusa.
Party Time on Mount Olympus
I would love to know what went on behind the Gates of Olympus as I can imagine Zeus, Poseidon, Aphrodite and the rest threw some real barnburners. The old “my dad’s stronger/better than yours” must have been something else.
High volatility and 96.50% RTP isn’t bad at all and add to that both Ante Bet as well as the Buy Feature and you’ll have yourself a nice setup. With the table set, your only challenge is to line up the winning combos.
Win After Win After Win
Thanks to the Tumble Feature, one win can lead to many more. All symbols involved in a win will be removed and replaced with new ones, giving you a chance to win over and over on the same spin.
I managed to get a few nice runs in but overall it wasn’t a profitable session at all unfortunately.
Activate the Ante Bet
With the Ante Bet activated, your chances of getting Free Spins is doubled but it didn’t do anything for me this time around. Normally I try to have this feature switched on to increase the odds but no luck this time.
The game had me fooled with 3 scatters.
Do Your Research
I made a rookie mistake and didn’t look up the rules to get Free Spins. We all know that 3 scatters will normally get you to the bonus round and a shot at the big wins. When I saw 3 of them pop up on my screen, the adrenaline started pumping and I got excited.
When nothing happened, I opened up the information and noticed that it takes 4(!) scatters to be invited to the divine dance. Bummer! Just my luck but I guess I learned my lesson.
I do believe there’s potential in Gates of Olympus so I will give it another go at some point.
2) Theme – Ancient Egypt
The Greeks aren’t the only ones living in the past, if I can be so blunt. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve taken a swing at the many treasures of ancient Egypt!
Could this be the number one, most popular slot theme of all times? I don’t know but it must be up there on the list. Scarab beetles, Ra and Cleopatra are ready to show you their power at any given time and there is a long list of other Pharaoh legends looking to remain famous.
Egyptian Rebirth II is not for the weak minded.
You’ve most likely played Sun of Egypt Hold & Win (Booongo), Egyptian Rebirth II (Spinomenal) and/or Lucky Scarabs (Booming Games).
One of Spinomenal’s most recent releases on this theme is Times of Egypt – Pharaoh’s Reign and boy does this game shine, at least in terms of graphics. I played the game at BitStarz.
I’m glad to see the feature but I chose not to use it this time.
Ace up Your Sleeve
You will be spinning to a 95.94% RTP and high volatility during your hunt for the riches. Obviously available for crypto play, the game does have a Buy Feature. If you ignore the financial aspect of the feature, it does give you a sense of security and it’s like having an Ace up your sleeve.
Not a lot of big wins on this one unfortunately.
Blinded by the Bling?
With all that shiny gold on the screen, I had high hopes but didn’t seem to have any luck at all to be honest. Did I get blinded by the bling? Perhaps, but besides the good looks, I didn’t get a good vibe.
Beauty is only skin deep and that’s a pretty good way to describe this game. Thanks but no thanks!
3) Theme – Pirates
There’s just something special about pirates and the way they lived their lives. You hear stories about pirates growing up, maybe not these days, but even Peter Pan had Captain Hook. Him and Jack Sparrow are probably the most known pirates to the younger generations. Even the most simple treasure map where X marks the spot is a pirate reference.
I would even go as far as saying that Pirates have contributed greatly to fashion with their head-scarfs and nothing says pirate more than an eye-patch and peg-leg.
Pirate Gold (Pragmatic Play), Pirate’s Map (Platipus) and Clash of Pirates (Evoplay) are all classic games.
Pirates and their booty.
Plunderin’ Pirates – Hold & Win
When it’s time to set sail and conquer the Seven Seas, nobody wants to be left behind. For example iSoftBet has made sure to be in the running for the gold with its Plunderin’ Pirates – Hold & Win. I swung by KingBilly to see what these pirates could do.
Not a Lot of Action
Plunderin’ Pirates is a slow game and there’s not much going on. That is until the crazy captain gets the brilliant idea of dropping a bomb on the ship to shake things up.
The bomb thowing is part of the explosive modifiers and it did help me get my biggest win.
Walk the Plank
I don’t see myself stepping foot on this ship anytime soon. The gameplay felt slow and uneventful and without any major features it’s just not for me. I hereby sentence the game to walk the plank.
4) Theme – Animals
Yes, animals is a very wide description of a theme but I would say the most popular animal on the reels is the mighty buffalo. I have no idea why that is but for some reason, the buffalo has become a global powerhouse and once the stampede is off to the races it’s hard to stop it.
Dances with Wolves or Buffalo Hunter?
Go Wild on the Prairie
There are a lot of games from the North American prairie, where buffalo, wolves, grizzlies and eagles are roaming free. I don’t find them very exciting but there are many players who do, which is a fact.
Buffalo King Megaways
A stunning backdrop is common among these games and I approve. You can see there’s a lot going on here with both Megaways, Buy Free Spins and the Ante Bet. In other words, so far so good.
The Buy Free Spins feature will cost you 100x your bet while the Ante Bet is 25x.
I am a fan of tumbling reels, cascading reels, avalanche wins or whatever the provider chooses to call it. It does make a difference but unless you get a couple of consecutive wins, it won’t make much of a difference.
It takes 4 scatters to tango.
I Learnt My Lesson
Remember how I was fooled thinking 3 scatters would do the job? Well, I learnt my lesson and managed to land 4 of them this time, which opened the door to 12 Free Spins.
Would this be my ticket to fame and fortune? To keep things short – no! Once again I basically struck out and didn’t win as much as I had hoped. I did scoop up a few wins and they added up to a decent total but still, when you’re playing the bonus game you want big wins.
Free Spins are best served at night time.
Buffalo King – Not Today
I know I have played better buffalo games in the past but many of them aren’t available for crypto play. The options are more for fiat players but give it time and it will get better.
Overall I wasn’t too impressed with the game but it does have potential and with the features it has, there should be some huge wins lurking around. The game is available at mBit Casino among other places.
5) Theme – Magic
Magic can be portrayed in many ways. Magicians in Las Vegas, there’s dark magic like Voodoo and then there are classic stories about wizards like Merlin and Gandalf. There’s a lot to discover and game providers do love magic.
A more traditional magic game is Magic Shoppe by BetSoft. Darkness, cards, skulls are all part of the slot that is set in something that looks like a tower.
There’s definitely magic in the air, but will it transform into big wins for me? It remains to be seen.
Believe it or not, I pulled off 4 chained boxes and voilá – 6 Sun Magic Free Spins. Finally some luck came my way!
Double Your Winning
Magic Shoppe has the Gamble Feature, giving you a chance to double your winnings after each win. I didn’t want to risk it for my Free Spin Big Win but I did try it for a smaller win in the base game.
Heads or tails? What will it be?
It’s Obviously Heads
It’s a simple Heads or Tails coin flip and I think it’s fun taking that risk from time to time. I got hot and I think I won 3 or 4 in a row which led to a very nice win, considering the original win was a small one.
Magic’s in the Air
This is a fun game and I had a good time. Yes, of course winning helps but the overall feeling from playing was good and I left wanting more, which is how it should be.
If you ever get the urge for some magic, pay these guys a visit at FortuneJack for example .
Ten Themes Done and Dusted
I have now gone through as many as 10 different slot themes and tried games in all of them. I might do more of these down the line but there are other things to report on as well.
Do you have a favorite theme when playing? Let me know.
