After dancing our way through the spectacular country of Brazil and learning about the preferences of its casino players, we made our way to Eastern Europe for a stop in Romania last week. If you’ve been following our journey, you know the interesting player data that has been revealed about how these players love to play.
As a player, you tend to stay in your own little gambling bubble, which is also one of the biggest reasons why players spend so much time at casinos – to escape. Whatever you play is up to you and we all have our favorite games that we stick to.
This is Why You Should Pay Attention
We don’t really know what other players play and for the most part, it doesn’t even matter. On the other hand, you might miss out on something good that you weren’t even aware of. I think that’s why these reports by EveryMatrix and iGamingBusiness should be of interest to you.
After having checked off two markets, today we are unlocking the doors to the Greek casino market to see what the children of Zeus are up to these days.
Do they like to bet big? What games are they playing? Are they similar or different from the other two markets?
Let’s find out!
Back to Basics
In my stereotypical mind, I was secretly hoping the top game theme here would be Greek Mythology. Don’t lie, I know you did as well. I would have been the perfect scenario of course but almost too good.
Apparently the Greeks prefer Fruit-themed slots, which is of course how the slots looked in the very beginning. In other words we’re going back to basics. The difference among the Top 5 on the list above is pretty slim and much closer than other markets we’ve covered so far.
Interestingly enough, Romanian players had the same favorite on their list (21%), while Brazil preferred Animals.
Third Time’s the Charm
After being in second place in both Brazil and Romania, Pragmatic Play finally took the last step and secured the spot at the top of the pyramid. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since Pragmatic is one of the biggest and most popular providers in the world. It’s also one of my personal favorites.
I’m sure you recognize most of the others on the list as well and you can find a detailed review of them right here on BCK.
The names are slightly different from the most popular providers on the Brazilian market but close to Romania. This is most likely due to both countries being part of the European market .
The List of Top Slots Causes Confusion
After seeing the list of Top 20 games, I feel a bit confused. Why? Because if the most popular themes were Fruits and Animals, they should dominate this list but they are not. Instead, there are a lot of Adventure and other types of games.
Perhaps it’s unclear exactly what category some of the slots fall under. For example, are the two fishing slots part of the Animal theme?
It brought a smile to my face when I noticed there are 3 Greek themed games on the list.
- Gates of Olympus (BitStarz, Kryptosino and Stake)
- Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War (Bitkingz, FortuneJack and Wild.io)
- Rise of Olympus 100 (Cloudbet, Arlekin and Vave)
Most Popular Game – Legacy of Dead by Play’n GO
Here’s a classic game that’s been popular for quite a while. Although Ancient Egypt hasn’t shown up on any of the top lists so far, it is a very popular and often recurring theme. I guess it would be under Adventure, if not its own.
Here’s some quick info on Legacy of Dead:
- RTP – 94.51%
- Volatility – High
- Max Multiplier – 5,000x
- Min Bet – €0.01
- Max Bet – €100
- Layout – 5×3
- Betways – 10
Swing by mBit, JustBit or Oshi.io for a chance to win big on Legacy of Dead.
Free Spins Are More Popular Than in Brazil
Among other things, Greek players are attracted to bonus features like Free Spins. This also happens to be the main feature in more than half of the games on the Top 20 list you saw earlier.
A big reason is that it gives the player more playing time with the game. As you can see, it is the most popular feature at 60%. This isn’t surprising by any means, but it’s worth noting that Free Spins are actually 10% more popular in Greece than in Brazil for example.
Wagering Behavior of Greek Players
Romanians love to bet quite big and they have an average bet size of €2.59, which is quite high. As you can see in the image above, the Greeks are much more conservative when it comes to betting.
The average Greek bet is at a much lower €0.79 within the same perimeters. It might seem like a big deal but there is a reason for it. It’s simply because of the fact that there are bet restrictions on Greece and the Bonus Buy feature is also not allowed.
Longer Game Sessions
On average, Greek players tend to have longer game sessions than the other two markets. Compared to Brazil and Romania, the Greeks also place a lot more bets during each session.
Where Do You Fit In?
After finding out more about how players from Brazil, Romania and now Greece like to play, I think I’m actually closest to the Greeks. A lot of it has to do with the lower bets and the Top 20 game list. I could see myself playing a lot of those games while I had a difficult time finding them on the other lists.
I hope you got some new ideas of both popular providers and some ideas for new slots to play.
Until next time – Good luck!
