It was less than a week ago that the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl for the second year in a row. The city of Las Vegas was hosting the massive event for the first time ever and it was no surprise that it turned out to be a success in every way.
Too Many Private Jets at the Airport
With all the A-list celebrities showing up, it resulted in a problem that I would think is quite rare. About 10 miles from the Allegiant Stadium, Henderson Executive Airport was forced to roll out 18 extra acres of overflow parking for private jets! The airport had to make room for 8x as many jets than average to park.
¨About 1,100 have been given slots to take off and land at three area airports. That is likely a new record, according to Clark County Aviation Director Rosemary Vassiliadis.
We will be 100% full at any given time,” Vassiliadis said.
How’s that for a party, huh?
Drake Winning Big With Stake
It’s not a secret that Drake has a close partnership with Stake and loves to bet. Before the Super Bowl, he posted his latest bet on social media. ChampagnePapi’s $1.15 million bet on the winner being the Kansas City Chiefs gave him a nice $2.3 million payout!
Most Watched TV Broadcasting Ever
As if the crazy Sin City Super Bowl parties, the celebrities and close to 500,000 fans coming to town wasn’t enough. The longest Super Bowl game will also go down as the most watched TV broadcasting in US television history!
The thrilling game averaged as many as 123.4 million viewers. If you think that’s a high number, how about a record 202.4 million Americans watched at least some part of the game!
Super Bowl – Sports Betting’s Wet Dream
I’ve written multiple articles about the sports betting that an event like the Super Bowl LVIII brings. The continued transition to the legal market set the stage for a historic first Super Bowl in Las vegas and the record-breaking results did not disappoint.
14,750 Sporting Bets Per Second
The time leading up to the game always brings a ton of traffic to the sports books. This year was crazier than ever before. How crazy?
Well, minutes before kick-off, there was a massive spike in traffic, showing a total of 14,750 transactions per second! This was the highest TPS (Transactions Per Second) ever recorded and nearly double what we saw during last year’s Super Bowl peak!
Interesting Sports Betting Stats from Super Bowl LVIII
- Throughout Super Bowl weekend, GeoComply saw a total of 8.5 million active accounts across states where online sports betting is legal. This represents a 15% increase over last year’s Super Bowl.
- During the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, GeoComply saw more than 1.77 million new users sign up for legal online betting accounts.
- From the start of the NFL Season through the Super Bowl, more than 13.7 million new sports betting accounts have been added. This is a 28% increase from last season.
States Fumbled a Great Opportunity
The proof is in the pudding and the appetite for legal online sports betting keeps on growing. The states allowing it are doing great but the ones refusing to even touch on the subject really fumbled a great opportunity.
People living in states without legalized online betting long for the security and regulatory protections that come with it. Not only does the states miss out on the important tax revenue, they also do in fact deny their residents the protection of regulated betting.
It’s time for these states to step up and give the people what they want.
No Pressure, New Orleans
With the success of last weekend, it’s going to be interesting to see how things will play out in New Orleans next year when it’s time for Super Bowl LVIV. No pressure!
