COVID-19 has much of the land-based casino world in total lockdown, with Las Vegas feeling more like a graveyard than the pumping city it used to be.
As the United States starts to relax safety measures, the Win-River casino in California has thrown open its doors for the first time in just over a month.

The Win-River casino is one of the first casinos in America to open up again following the COVID-19 pandemic, but it’s coming back with a few changes in place.
There will be no blackjack tables open at all, and the max capacity will be capped at 700 patrons.
Two people will be allowed per slot machine to accommodate for people at the casino with friends, and slot attendants will wipe down machines the second someone gets up.
Aside from this, there will be no alcohol served, food service will be at a minimum and there will be plexiglass barriers all over the casino floor.
Could Vegas Be Next?
Eager gamblers await the reopening of Sin City, but there’s still no firm date on when Vegas will once again be pumping full of life.
The Nevada Gambling Commission has given a set of rules the green light for when casinos do reopen, but until Gov. Sisolak approves the reopening, the strip will remain silent.
Poker fans from around the world have been hoping that this good news from the Win-River casino could mean the WSOP will be back on.
However, the date of fall for the WSOP main events looks like it will remain in place to protect players from any potential harm.
Online Casinos Starting to See a COVID-19 Regression
As land-based casinos like the Win-River start to open once more, online casinos are starting to notice a slight drop-off in the number of new players signing up every day.
Whether this is down to more competition launching as Colorado launches sportsbook regulations or players are heading back to the felt it yet to be seen.
