It’s hard to imagine that the mobile game Candy Crush was released all the way back in 2012. It didn’t take long before it became a worldwide success and according to the statistics, it has been downloaded more than 3 Billion times!
Ever since, there have been a lot of others trying to cash in on the phenomenon by using the word ‘Candy’ in various products. As I’m sure you have noticed, casino game providers are no exception because there are a lot of Candy-themed slots out there.
Did Someone Say Cavities?
Iron Dog Studio is the latest provider venture into the sweet-tooth solution area. You can tell by the name ‘Sweet Candy Cash Megaways Deluxe’ that they hold no bars and I can already feel the cavities poppin’ up one after the other.
Get ready for a slot that’s equipped with player-favorite mechanics such as cascading Tumbles, Free Spins and a Hold & Win feature.
Get Your Dentist on Speed Dial
So, if you’re curious to find out about all the colorful gelatine infused reel action that await players in a game like this, then make sure to book an appointment with your dentist and let’s go chase that sugar rush!
It’s A Colorful World Out There
At first glance, there’s really nothing that sets the game apart from most of the other “Candy Games”. They all use the same color palette and often the backdrop is a mix of fluffy pink clouds, swirly ice cream or as in this case, lollipops and donuts.
I would be lying if I said that the graphics don’t look good, because they do. I think perhaps the underlying meaning of the chosen symbols might vary a bit depending on your geo location. I am of course hinting at all the weed gummy bears on the screen and if you’re living in a state or country where this is legalized, then I’m quite sure you are in for a fun, relaxing trip.
In case you missed it, this is a Megaways slot, meaning the paylines or ways to win will vary from a low 64 all the way up to 117,649.
I’ll get into the specific features in a little while but obviously you can spot them on both sides of the reels as well as the 4 Jackpot cookies overseeing the action from above.

Understanding the Tumbles Feature
By now I’m sure you know how Tumbling Reels, Cascading Reels, Avalanche and in this game Tumbles work. Every time you score a winning combination, all the symbols involved will be removed and replaced with new ones, giving you a shot at increasing your win at no risk.
Activate the Ante Bet(s)
Every time I come across a slot with the Ante Bet option, I make sure to activate it before my first spin. To make things even more exciting, this particular game has two of them.
The first one is to increase your chances of triggering Free Spins by 25%. The second option will help you have a bigger chance of triggering the Hold and Win feature also by 25%. Both of these are great and as mentioned, I will always activate the Ante Bet because the goal is always to get to the bonus round as soon as possible.
Increased Bet Size
Keep in mind though, that when you flip these switches, the 25% increased odds also means that your bet will go up 25%. If you decide to activate both of them, your bet will get 50% more expensive.
Use the Buy Feature
There is also the option of using the Buy Feature to skip the line to the bonus round. Personally, I prefer activating the Ante Bet because it’s usually a better deal considering the prize of the Buy Feature.
You’ll get 4 options and each of them will vary slightly. You can choose to trigger anywhere from 6 to 16 Free Spins and the higher you go, the higher the RTP % will go as well.
You should know that in order for you to be able to click on the Buy Feature button and shop for Free Spins, your Ante Bet needs to be deactivated first.
Sweet Candy Cash Megaways Deluxe Hold and Win
Even though I had both Ante Bets activated, I had to play for a long time before I saw any results from it and even then, I missed it. Or at least I thought I did because I couldn’t figure out what was needed to trigger the Hold and Win feature.
In Sweet Candy Cash Megaways Deluxe, you will have to land a combination of 6 symbols or more. I didn’t actually know exactly what was needed so I did miss the fact that I had all the symbols needed when all of a sudden the Hold and Win pop up sign appeared on my screen.
You will play with only cash value symbols and if you’re lucky, you will also be able to pick up a Jackpot or two. Funny enough, the Jackpot symbols in play are actually chocolate coins. Unfortunately I didn’t see any of them during my round but I have been told that they are lurking out there somewhere and are in fact looking forward to making players extra happy.
The Jackpots in question are:
- Mini
- Minor
- Major
- Mega
Back to Hold and Win
Just like other Hold and Win/Spin bonus games, players get 3 spins to land a symbol. Every time you land a symbol, your count will reset to 3, Even though you are thinking there better be a symbol that sticks every time, it’s always a bit nerve-wracking if you are on your last spin.
When you are out of spins, all the cash value on the screen will be added up and sent to your account balance. In my case, the total sum won was $7.60 on a $0.30 bet.
How to Turn $10 Into $0.10 via Free Spins
To trigger Free Spins in this game, instead of collecting scatters, you need 4 consecutive winning Tumbles. I couldn’t get the job done so in order to be able to share my Free Spin experience with you, I decided to use the Buy Feature.
On a $0.20 bet, to buy 6 Free Spins, the asking price was a hefty $10 which I wasn’t too excited about. But, I decided to go against my gut feeling and cough up the money.
All of a sudden the game went straight to Free Spins without a heads up sign or anything. Apparently, if a spin results in a reel showing 7 symbols, that reel will lock and stay that way for the rest of your Free Spins. This is what happened to be and you can see reel number 6 having a red frame around it.
Great Bonus Round
I’m telling you, this bonus round just flew by and then boom – this sign appears, letting you know what a loser you are and that you have no more Free Spins. It felt really shitty to be honest and basically my $10 was gone in a blink of an eye. Do you think I regretted going that route to get Free Spins?
Sweet Candy Cash Megaways Deluxe – Pass or Play?
Graphically, there’s nothing that sets Sweet Candy Cash Megaways Deluxe slot apart from other similar games. I don’t think most players expect it to either and it’s a great looking game.
Most features are also the same as what you will find in most other games but what I do like is the fact that there are two Ante Bets. The combination of having both Free Spins AND a Hold and Win feature available in the same game is great. This definitely adds value and makes it a bit more unique and worthwhile while playing.
Free Spins and Hold & Win
On the other hand, I felt that the game play itself was a bit slow. With both the Ante Bets activated, I expected more action with each spin and I don’t feel like it delivered at the level that I was hoping for. Add to that my absolutely miserable experience with coughing up $10 for Free Spins only to get $0.12 in return and you can understand my disappointment.
Based on what I thought the game showed me today, there’s no chance I will come back and give it a second chance. There are so many other good games out there that if I have a negative experience the first time around, only on very rare occasions will I come back and give it a second chance.
It may sound harsh but when you’re playing with actual money, if you don’t like the game, just move on to something else.
