The idiom “Is the juice worth the Squeeze” is something we should ask ourselves more often in life. I think it would help a lot of people make any necessary changes needed to be happier, which in itself would make society a better place for all of us.
I don’t think that’s quite what ELK Studios had in mind when creating their latest slot, called just Squeeze, but whatever. It doesn’t take away the importance of what I just said. Tell me I’m wrong?
Anyway, back to business and my experience of the new Squeeze slot and whether or not it is indeed worth the squeeze.
Tropical Island Juice
Squeeze works with a colorful grid that will give you 6 columns and 7 rows to work with. It’s all about creating clusters and trigger features to help you squeeze out as many wins as possible. See what I did there?
In order to create a winning cluster, you’ll need at least 5 identical symbols.
As you can see, there’s definitely an Hawaiian vibe to it or any tropical island I guess. While the island vibe is always appealing, the actual graphics could use an upgrade. You’ll see the reminiscing of the inside of a fruit in many of the symbols, like a kiwi, which is cool and as far as what they all mean and can do for you, I’ll take you through it all in just a second.
Released: August 2024 | RTP: 94.00% | Variance: Medium/High |
Min Bet: €0.20 | Max Bet: €40.00 | Max Payout: 10,000x |
Enjoy the Squeeze Mechanism
The feature that has given the name its game is of course the Squeeze Mechanism. It’s a pretty interesting move and not something you’ll see in your everyday slot. When you score a cluster win, the symbols involved will get squeezed until it pops.
On your left hand side, you’ll see 4 meters, each with its own color. Whatever color the popped symbols have, the respective meter will get a boost.
- Blue – Swap Symbols Meter
- Green – Upgrade Symbols Meter
- Yellow – Make Symbol Big Meter
- Red – Spawn Wilds Meter
Keep an Eye Out for the Bounce Back Payout
There’s a chance that a squeezed winning cluster can bounce back and increase your win multiplier. It might bounce back a couple of times before it’s over.
Load Up on the 4 Main Features
Remember the 4 meters on the left? These guys are basically in charge of your success because of what they can contribute with. Winning clusters is the fuel needed to fill them up and trigger them.
- Swap – Picks and 2 symbols on the grid and swaps positions up to 3 times
- Make Big – Enlarges a symbol to 3×3 or 4×4
- Upgrade – Upgrades a set of symbols of the same value to the next higher value. If it’s already at the highest, you’ll get a Wild instead
- Spawn Wilds – Replaces 2 to 6 symbols with Wilds
I do want to mention that there’s also a thing called the Super Charged symbol which will fill the entire meter if it’s a part of a win.
Make the Most Out of the X-iter Feature
ELK is known for its X-iter feature in slots and Squeeze is no different. If you feel like coughing up some extra cash and skip waiting for a bonus round etc, you’re more than welcome to.
Here are your options:
- Super Bonus – Buy a game round triggering the Super Bonus Game at 500x your bet
- Bonus – Buy a game round triggering the Bonus Game at 100x your bet
- 2 Feature Meters – Start with 2 or more meters filled at 25x your bet
- 1 Feature Meter – Start with 1 or more meters filled at 10x your bet
- Bonus Hunt – Will cost you 3x your bet and triple your chances of getting to the bonus round.
I gave the Bonus Hunt a chance but even after quite a few spins it hadn’t resulted in anything at all, which was disappointing.
Squeeze Bonus Game
In order to get to the Bonus Round you’ll need to be on the lookout for Bs. To get the invite, 3 or more of them must appear, like it did for me only once in the screenshot above. This will set you up with 5 Free Drops.
As you can see, the backdrop changes to a darker color bringing you a different vibe. That’s of course nothing major but what I did like about the bonus round is the fact that however much you have filled the meters remains from one spin to the next and doesn’t reset.
If you can build your multiplier and perhaps even fill the meters, you can have a good run and pocket some decent payouts.
Squeeze – Pass or Play?
At first glance, I thought the style of Squeeze looked too retro for my taste but after having played a few spins, I managed to look beyond the exterior and enjoy it. Is the level of graphics important to be in order to truly appreciate a slot? Definitely. Can I still enjoy a game with a shitty look? Sure I can.
I won’t lie and say this is a new favorite. Not by a long shot. I do appreciate some of the features though and I think the most credit should go to the modifiers and their respective meters.
The Bonus Game was also ok, especially since it combines the modifiers and lets them stick around between spins instead of resetting.
I’m Not Convinced
It’s fair to say that ELK hasn’t impressed me with their latest release and even though I had an OK time playing it, I’m not convinced it will be a hit.
The bottom line is…will I go back to Squeeze and try to win some more money? No, I really can’t see it. For that reason, it’s a PASS from me ❌
