Two years ago, the United States Supreme Court lifted a federal statute that limited sportsbook betting to Nevada, allowing all states to allow live sports betting in the country.
Since that momentous occasion. 19 states have now fully legalized and launched live sports betting, with Colorado becoming the latest state to legalize it.
A Slow and Gradual Rollout
Unfortunately, due to the current situation of the sporting world, most sportsbooks that are planning to launch in Colorado are doing so rather slowly.
Most are delaying their launch, waiting for more sports to return to action, which could see many sportsbooks delaying their launch until at least September.
There are already a number of sportsbooks that have taken the plunge, and with additional race meets in the horse racing world being added, they’re looking to capitalize on the early mover train.
More Horse Action Incoming
The handful of sportsbooks that have launched are taking full advantage of the additional race days that have been added by various tracks in the last few weeks.
Officials in Nebraska approved 12 extra meets at Fonner Park and this fueled more tracks to apply for similar conditions.
The Tampa Bay Downs and Santa Anita have both applied for extensions in the racing season that’s currently operating behind closed doors.
This has been huge for sportsbooks as there is now more live action to promote to gamblers and more action for gamblers to bet on.
eSports is Chipping In
Sportsbooks that are launching in Colorado at the moment don’t need to have any cause for concern as more sports are starting to get the approval of regulators.
In Mid-April, the Nevada GCB approved four new eSports leagues for live sports betting, fueling hope that sportsbooks will once again be full to the brim with action.
If these four new eSports listings go well and the demand is high enough from gamblers, we could see more leagues from the eSports world covered by brand-new sportsbooks in Colorado.
Bitcoin Sportsbooks Leading the Way Once More
Citizens from Colorado can also now legally place bets on sportsbook action thanks to the help of state-of-the-art Bitcoin sportsbooks, such as SportsBet.io and 22Bet.
These Bitcoin sportsbooks are fully regulated and can operate within the American jurisdictions that have given sportsbooks the green light.
It’s only a matter of time before all states in the United States fully legalize sportsbooks, with many states already putting the wheels in motion.
A Huge Boost for Colorado
Coloradans are famed for the fiery passion for football, soccer and basketball, with a number of top-tier teams coming from the state.
Now, passionate Coloradans can place live bets through top Bitcoin sportsbooks once football, soccer and NBA seasons resume once more.
Whether punters want to bet on the Broncos winning the Super Bowl, the Colorado Rapids winning the MLS or the Denver Nuggets winning the NBA Finals, they can now do so legally thanks to this new legislation.
It’s a great time to be a sports fan in Colorado, and we can’t wait to see sporting action return once more to the best sportsbooks!
