If last week was supposed to be the slowest betting week of the year, let’s just say those days are over. This week is a whole different story and with The Open, Tour de France Femmes, FIFA World Cup, Formula 1 etc, it’s time to get busy.
I’ve listed some of the hottest events taking place right now or coming up in the next few days. You will also find many of my favorite sports books where you can place your bets.
Let’s get this betting party going, shall we?
1) Golf – The Open Championship (July 20th – 23rd)
The Open Championship is one of the Golf Majors and a very popular one. All the best players in the world will be gathering at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in England for a battle on a very challenging course this weekend.
Can He Do It Again?
If you remember, the last time the tournament was held at this particular course was all the way back in 2014, when Rory McIlroy beat out the rest of the competition to win it all. Clearly this is one of his favorite courses and surprise, surprise, Rory is the favorite to lift the trophy this weekend!
Five Past Winners at Open Championship
2022: Cameron Smith
2021: Collin Morikawa
2020: Canceled
2019: Shane Lowry
2018: Francesco Molinari
2017: Jordan Spieth
Let’s look at some of the odds available at your favorite sports books:
2) Football (Soccer) – FIFA Women’s World Cup (July 20th – August 20th)
Two islands far, far away are hosting this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. Players from all corners of the world have made their way down to Australia and New Zealand and after having dealt with a very challenging jet lag, it’s time for kick off.
Anything Can Happen
As far as favorites and expectations go, it should come as no surprise that Team USA comes in under heavy pressure. Looking at the odds offered, England and Spain are expected to give them a run for their money. However, as round as the ball is, anything can happen in a tournament of this caliber.
Summer vs Winter Football
Something people and players take for granted in the World Cup is nice, warm weather. However, since it’s winter time down under, temperatures are expected to be around 14 degrees, making things a bit different.
What team can deal with the weather aspect the best?
3) Cycling – Tour de France Femmes (July 23rd – 30th)
The second edition of the rebirth of the Tour de France Femmes begins this Sunday. After a successful return last year, the race began on the legendary Champs-Élysées and Annemiek van Vleuten claimed both the yellow jersey and the overall title.
This year’s race 2023 will take the riders across a whole new area of France. How exciting!
Demi Vollering is the Betting Favorite
Despite winning the tour last year, Annemiek van Vleuten is not the favorite this year. Instead, it’s Demi Vollering that will carry the highest expectations from betting experts.
What Do the Experts Say?
Let’s take a look at what the Tour de France Femme experts are saying:
4) Formula 1 Hungary GP Grand Prix (July 21st-23rd)
For all you speed freaks out there, it doesn’t get any better than Formula 1. This time the circus has found its way to Hungary for another Grand Prix.
Can Anyone Beat Max Verstappen?
The way Max Verstappen has been dominating the races makes him the clear favorite to cross the finish line before the competition. Can anyone get close enough to at least smell the fumes from his electrifying Red Bull car? I doubt it but nothing is guaranteed in this line of business.
5) Stake – MLB 9th Innings Payout Promotion
America’s National Pastime is supposedly baseball and who am I to argue. Throughout the entire 2023 season, Stake is running a promotion called the MLB 9th Innings Payout.
Anyone who bets on baseball is always at risk of the dreaded last inning defeat that changes the outcome of your sure bet. This promotion will help you out with that.
How to Win
You can bet on any team in the Winner market and if your team is leading at the beginning of the 9th inning, but ends up losing the match anyway – you will still get paid as much as $100.
Pretty cool, huh?
Pay Attention to the Following
- Pre-match single bets on Winner market for regular season and playoffs matches only
- First bet per match, per customer, per household
- Minimum bet $5
- Maximum winnings $100
- Winnings will be awarded if selection leads at the top of the 9th inning but ends up losing the match
Make sure you look at the T&C’s at Stake.com before placing your bets.
Be A Winner
Man, there’s a lot of fun betting opportunities out there this week. If you prefer other types of bets instead of outrights and winners, you won’t have any problems finding them on the sites mentioned above.
Good luck!
