A double dose of dog influenced games might be exactly what we need right now. It’s a battle between domestic ruckus and desert carnage.
Multiple Personality Disorder
You know how they say how the type of dog you have says a lot about you as an owner? With that in mind, I can tell you there have been two new games that have hit the market in the last week, both with a solid canine focus.
I’ll stay clear of any conspiracy theories regarding the strange timing of both releases but when it comes to the dogs themselves, one couldn’t be more different than the other.
Which One Are You
Maybe your personality matches the one of a wiener dog, a Rottweiler, Shih Tzu or perhaps a Great Dane, but based on the dog vs owner theory, which game is more you?
Will it be the annoying primadonna dogs of Pug Life or the vicious, neighborhood bully with a kill or be killed attitude of Canine Carnage?
Let me know!
Pug Life – Hacksaw Gaming
The name Pug Life is obviously a play on Thug Life so it wouldn’t be out of the question to expect some gangster wannabe pups but as you’ll quickly find out, that’s not the case at all. This thing is filled with all kinds of treats.
You’ll notice how Hacksaw Gaming continues to use a language that doesn’t match up with the game itself. Features like The Dawg’s Den and Treat Yo’ Self promise action that perhaps the game doesn’t live up to.
Say Hello to Grumpy Cat
Actually dogs aren’t the only animals in this game as the grid is full of birds, cats and rats as well. Interesting mix and you’ll probably recognize some of them, like Grumpy Cat. I wonder if Hacksaw Gaming had to cough up any royalty fees?
Here’s a quick look at the game data:
RTP: 96.33%
Paylines: 16
Multiplier: 7,500x
Volatility: Medium
Grab a Treat Whenever You Can
I enjoy treats as much as everyone else and these animals are no different. There are 3 different types of treats in this game: Biscuits, Bones and Steak. If you can include one of more of them in a winning combination, you’ll get a multiplier.
- Biscuit -2x, 3x or 4x
- Bone – 5x, 10x, 15x or 20x
- Steak – 25x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 150x or 200x
You can never get enough treats and as soon as you land 3 treats of any kind on the same spin, you will trigger the Treat Yo’ Self bonus game.
Bonus Buy
Not getting all the treats you want is just a part of life but that’s what the Bonus Buy is for. There are 4 different options waiting to be clicked on:
- Treats Feature Spins – Each spin is guaranteed to come with at least 1 treat
- Bonus Feature Spins – Gives you a 5x higher chance of triggering a bonus
- Treat Yo’ Self – Head straight to the Treat Yo’ Self bonus game
- The Dawg’s Den – Get ready to take a swing at The Dawg’s Den bonus game
Treat Yo’ Self Bonus Game
All your treats will be sticky during this bonus game and by doing so, you will be able to scoop up a nice multiplier with each spin. Starting with 5 spins, each new treat will get you an extra spin.
Multipliers All Around
You can see the multipliers right there on your screen and adding them up is a true pleasure. Will it be enough to keep you content?
The Dawg’s Den
Landing 3 of the Dawg’s Den scatters will trigger the second bonus game. You will see a 3 or a 4, which will determine how many Free Spins you will end up with.
The trick here is that you won’t get any wins until the very end. Instead, it will all be added up above the reels until you run out of spins.
Get the Toaster
Score a toaster and it can make a big difference in your payout. This little nugget has the capability to increase your multipliers. You might get the following help from the toaster: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x.
Rubber Duckies For Everyone
With a bit of luck and these reels treating you well, you should be able to feel as content as the pampered mutt in the bath and hopefully you’ll be able to use something other than bleach.
Is it the best dog game I have played? Far from it but it will definitely appeal to a certain type of player. If it does, maybe this is who you are and that the world should expect to see you celebrating wrapped up in a pink towel, nails done and rubber duckies all around. Whoop whoop!
Canine Carnage – Play’n GO
Ok, so let’s try and rev up the engine a bit, shall we. One look at the image is enough to see that Canine Carnage has a lot more bite to it and is oozing with attitude and confidence.
There’s no need to be afraid but it doesn’t hurt being able to scare off any winless spins and I’m pretty sure you’ll agree with me on that.
Game data:
RTP: 96.2%
Paylines: Up to 248,832 ways
Multiplier: 3,000x
Volatility: Medium
Gasoline or Fear?
This may very well be the canine version of Mad Max and you can almost smell the gasoline coming out of the exhaust of the very interesting looking vehicle being used. Then again, is it the smell of gasoline or is it fear?
Splitter Wilds
One of the more exciting features is the Splitter Wild. Not because it means a massive payout but more because the flaming blade will be spinning like crazy and split any of the images to the right in half. The only exceptions are collectors, scatters and multipliers.
Golden Bones Means Instant Prizes
Being like a dog with a bone can be a compliment to some and an insult to others. Getting a bone in this game means you’ll get an instant prize so I’ll take that as a good thing.
The golden bones can land anywhere and as many as 6 of them can be added to the reels completely at random so make the most of it.
Prepare for Your Bone Spins
Setting a plastic jerrycan of gasoline on fire isn’t very smart but I’m going to let that slide this time around because if you can score 3 of them, you will trigger 6 Bone Spins.
Get the Golden Bones
This is where you can find both golden bones and collector symbols. Any of the golden bones will give you an instant cash prize, which you can see right away.
Collect and Win
Your instant prizes are collected in the Cash Pot but it’s not until you manage to land the collector symbol that you are able to be awarded the Cash Pot itself.
Split the Difference
Don’t worry, you will still be able to split the images and get your paid even during the bonus game.
More Action, More Stress
In terms of graphics and action, there’s no comparison between the two games as Canine Carnage is at a completely different level and is the one I personally prefer. The only thing that can be a bit annoying is the fact that because of the Mad Max vibe, the soundtrack can feel a bit stressful and not quite the relaxation you might be looking for.
Since it is clearly the better game in my opinion, the solution is to just turn the sound off if or when it becomes too much.
The Beauty of Being a Mutt
In terms of what type of dog I would be between the two, fittingly enough I’d say I would be a mix between the two. I do enjoy the toughness and resiliation of the carnage hounds but in the long run it’s just too high strung for me and I do enjoy a quiet down time where I can recharge my batteries.
On the other hand, the Pug Life puppies are way too spoiled and pampered and feel way too safe living their best life locked up inside.
In other words, I guess I’m simply a mutt and there’s nothing wrong with that. Au contraire, you get the best of both worlds!
Have you figured out which one you are yet?
You can play the games at Wild Tornado, King Billy and BitStarz!
