The month of October isn’t just about strikeouts, home runs and stolen bases in the MLB playoffs. It is also the opening of a brand new NHL season, which is a big deal for all hockey fans around the world.
What it Takes to Become Champions
On June 25th, the Florida Panthers hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time after an incredible series against the Edmonton Oilers. Having reached the finals the previous year, only to lose to the Las Vegas Knights, Matthew Tkachuk and the rest of the team learned the valuable lesson of what it takes to become champions.
It didn’t matter that they faced the best player in the world, Connor McDavid. It didn’t matter that McDavid had an incredible playoff with 42 points. It didn’t matter that they almost blew a 3-0 series lead. The Panthers were simply destined to win the cup and it was well deserved!!
In Case You’ve Missed It
I highly recommend watching the captivating new Amazon Prime “Faceoff: Inside the NHL” that just came out last week. It’s a binge-worthy series giving fans an unprecedented, unfiltered look into the lives of the greatest hockey players in the world chasing the hardest trophy to win in sports: the Stanley Cup.
Interesting Storylines for the Upcoming Season
As always, there is a lot to look forward to but here are a few storylines about the upcoming season.
- Well, for starters you can bet your bottom dollar that “McJesus” will be looking for revenge and to bring back the cup to Edmonton.
- Florida had a taste of the good life this summer and wants to experience it all over again
- Can Alex Ovechkin break Wayne Gretzky’s “unbreakable” goal record? The Great 8 enters the season with 853 goals, and needs 42 in order to pass Wayne Gretzky’s and set a new NHL record.

- Auston Matthews’ first season as the new Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs

- Will we finally see the return of Colorado Avalanche Captain Gabriel Landeskog?
Stanley Cup Champions 2024/2025
Predicting the Stanley Cup Champions is always tough but it’s clear that after what happened last year, most “experts” expect the Oilers to win it all and I tend to agree. I looked around and it seems like BC.Game is offering one of the best odds for the Oilers at 8.70x.
