We’ve got non-stop action in so many different sports and locations, as always at this time of year. Some of my personal favorites are the Stanley Cup playoffs and Champions League football and I have focused on both of them this week.

1) NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
We’re off and running folks and as expected, the level of intensity when the playoff pucks are dropped immediately is switched to full blast. Even a true hockey fan like myself can find the regular season somewhat boring but man, there’s nothing like the NHL Playoffs.

All the series have been tight so far, which isn’t always the case. As of last night, the situation in each of them are as follows:

Odds: 1.85
Florida took both games at home but you can never count out the Lightning. Kucherov will step up and show everyone why he should be this year’s MVP and I believe Tampa will take game number 3 at home.
Islanders vs Hurricanes
New York Islanders vs Carolina Hurricanes
🏒 My Pick – Hurricanes 🏒
Odds: 1.58
Just like the rest of the world, I thought the Islanders would steal game 2 in Carolina after being up 3-0 halfway through the game. Somehow, they blew the lead and the Hurricanes scored 5 straight and secured a 2-0 lead in the series.
Don’t underestimate Patrik Roy and his ability to motivate his players but if they haven’t gotten over that last loss, the Canes will take game 3 and this series is over. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game goes into overtime but I do believe the Hurricanes will take a 4-0 or 4-1 win in the series.
Washington vs Rangers
Washington Capitals vs New York Rangers
🏒 My Pick – Rangers 🏒
Odds: 1.55
The Caps are putting up a fight so far but the Rangers are too good and shouldn’t have a problem stealing at least one game in Washington. Ovie has been very silent and Capitals need him to show why he’s the greatest goal scorer of all time.
Nashville vs Vancouver
Nashville Predators vs Vancouver Canucks
🏒 My Pick – Nashville 🏒
Odds: 1.81
With a bit of luck, Nashville could’ve won both games in Vancouver. Where’s Elias Pettersson? The playoffs atmosphere is amazing in Nashville and I think the Preds will be too much for the Canucks to handle with the country loving fans cheering them on.
Colorado vs Winnipeg
Colorado Avalanche vs Winnipeg Jets
🏒 My Pick – Colorado 🏒
Odds: 1.55
After taking game 1, the Jets were simply outplayed by the Avs in the second game and the series is tied heading to Denver. There’s no chance that the Avs are going to lose at home so expect MacKinnon and Makar to make a statement at the Pepsi Center.
Los Angeles vs Edmonton
Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers
🏒 My Pick – Kings 🏒
Odds: 2.03
My riskiest pick of them all. The fact that the Kings managed to even the series before heading back to California will give them the boost they need to get away with another win. If the Oilers go down 1-2, you’ll see the stress starting to seep into the locker room as this is supposed to be the year when they win it all.

The Final Four
2) UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals
Only 4 teams remain in the thrilling Champions League and the first leg of the semi-finals are coming up next week. I’m expecting two very tough games as none of the teams are satisfied without being the one raising the trophy as the champions.
Real Madrid celebrating after eliminating Man City
Bye Bye Premier League
It’s a little bit surprising that there are two German teams left but none from the Premier League. That has to hurt. Last week’s game between Real Madrid and Manchester City was a great showdown and I believe Real got a confidence boost walking away victorious. Will it be enough to do it again in Munich? I won’t be surprised to see a draw in game one.
Dortmund looked solid against Atletico Madrid while PSG didn’t show any weaknesses against a desperate Barcelona. I’m expecting another close game.

Taking a chance at two draws is never easy but both games should be really close and with the odds for a tie being so good, I say why not. You’ll find the above odds at Vave and they end up being 12.78x, which is definitely something I can work with.
