Thousands of crypto enthusiasts, industry professionals, and public figures are descending upon the vibrant city of Miami this week to attend a cryptocurrency conference which is said to be the biggest crypto-related event in history.
Organizers are expecting over 50,000 attendees at the Bitcoin 2021 Conference, which will be running for three days at the Mana Convention Center in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood.
Some of the most influential names in the crypto world will be attending the conference, including top industry executives and celebrities.
The Bitcoin 2021 Conference was originally scheduled to take place in Los Angles between the 30th of April and 1st of May 2021, but issues regarding California’s strict Covid-19 policies and venue availability in the area have forced organizers to look to Miami, which has rapidly grown into a major hub for arts, technology, and innovation.
“In addition to moving cities, we are also pushing the conference back slightly to June 4–5, so as to allow ample time for the second wave of COVID-19 to pass and for vaccine rollout to take place.” as stated by the official organizers’ website.
The Wynwood neighborhood in Miami has emerged as somewhat of a tech hub in recent years, and the future of cryptos looks bright in this bustling city as local officials are opening up to the idea of crypto integration.
In a report from Fox Business News earlier this year, Mayor of Miami Francis Suarez stated that he would like to make the city more appealing to the tech industry by embracing bitcoin, even going as far as investing a portion of the government funds into the cryptocurrency.
Suarez had also mentioned that Miami is looking into providing the option for city employees to have their salaries paid in bitcoin if they choose.
“If I would have done it last year, I would have made 200 plus percent,”…“So I would have looked like a genius.” in a statement by Suarez.
He went on further to say “We want to be one of the most crypto-forward and technological cities in the country,”… “So we’re looking at creating a regulatory framework that makes us the easiest place in the United States to do business if you’re doing it in cryptocurrencies.”
Tickets to the Bitcoin 2021 Conference are already sold out, and organizers were also offering a three-day “whale pass” entry ticket which includes access to the event, five celebrity-suite tickets to the upcoming Mayweather vs. Logan Paul boxing match, a meet and greet with professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, three vintage bottles of 1996 Dom Pérignon, as well as access to VIP concierge services. Starting bids for these tickets were hovering around 3 BTC.
Some of the celeb attendees include former U.S. congressman Ron Paul, Wyoming senator Cynthia Lummis, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor, co-founder and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and various other industry professionals and influential names in the crypto world.
It’s been the most eventful year in the history of cryptocurrencies, as 2021 saw the total global market capitalization for cryptos exceeding $2 trillion, and major financial firms across the globe have started welcoming the integration of digital currency and blockchain technology with already-existing financial structures.
The Bitcoin 2021 Conference will be the global hub for all things crypto during this two-day event and will see industry leaders and the biggest crypto enthusiasts network together, intending to promote awareness and open new doorways to innovation.
