Online gambling is taking off across the United States thanks to the legalization of the activity.
States have been hard at work putting the local frameworks into place and finally firms can apply for licenses and launch operations in a number of states.
MGM has announced that it’s launching its new online betting app in Pennsylvania much to the excitement of residents.
Online Gambling is Taking Off
The United States has been hit hard by COVID-19, and with no end in sight, many casino brands, such as MGM, are looking to create a strong online presence.
Casinos across the country have been forced to shut their doors over the course of the year, and many of them are having to shut for a second time.
This is not ideal for any business, so in order to keep the funds rolling and the players spinning, these brands are turning to online casinos.
Dubbed BetMGM, the new online gaming app will give users access to just over 140 simulated slots and table games.
This is a huge step for the MGM brand, which can now continue to increase and enhance its online presence.
MGM isn’t content with just an online casino in the state, ohh no. MGM is going the whole 9 yards and has applied for a sports betting license in the state.
It’s expected to get the green light for this application in the coming weeks, allowing MGM to go head-to-head with DraftKings.
As the icing on the cake, BetMGM has signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, who are currently top of their group.
Preparing for Shutdown Mark II
As the COVID situation appears to worsen in the US, more and more casinos are shutting their doors for a second time.
Detroit kicked off the second round of casino closures, with Las Vegas following suit and cutting capacity of public venues to 25%.
However, in Vegas, Mayor Carolyn Goodman has fought back, trying to get businesses open at a higher capacity.
Even if casinos are to open up at full capacity, fewer people are making the trip to Sin City, meaning that casinos are taking a beating.
So, by diversifying their portfolios and adding online gambling sites to their roster of features, casinos can hedge their bets and prevent unnecessary risks.
Rather than have players swap the casino floor for the competition’s online casino, casinos can use their player’s club reward systems to draw in the same crowd, but from home.
Done correctly, players could be looking at tasty welcome bonuses and weekly promotions that they wouldn’t get in the land-based casino.
Add in the fact that online gambling is far safer at the moment with COVID levels remaining rather high.
Will These New Casinos Compete with Bitcoin Casinos?
There are already a number of foreign casinos that allow Americans to play when they use a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.
This opens a whole regulatory can of worms, but players are slowly getting used to the huge bonuses and weekly promotions that so often appear at the best European casinos.
If American online casinos, such as BetMGM, don’t come out of the gate swinging, it will be hard for them to attract the players that are used to the bigger bonuses and the better casino layouts.
