Everyone knows that Las Vegas is far from new to record-breaking performances in all areas of entertainment and gambling. For the second consecutive year, Sin City has set an all-time record for gaming revenue.
As great as that is for the gambling community as a whole, it looks like we can expect even bigger things moving forward. Just listen to this, by the end of last year it had recorded 22 consecutive months with a gaming revenue of more than $1 billion.
With a total of $14.8 billion for the year, it was an increase of 10.5% from 2021, which was the best year up to date.
Exciting Times Ahead
There’s always something new and spectacular in the works for Las Vegas and 2023 is no different. By the end of the year, the plan is for two new destinations to open up.
Fontainebleau Las Vegas
First there’s the spectacular Fontainebleau Las Vegas being built for $3.2 billion, right next to the Las Vegas Convention Center. This gigantic new hotel is set to open sometime in the last quarter and will have 3,700 rooms.
If you think the Fountainbleau looks like fun, just wait.
MSG Sphere at The Venetian
The second new hotspot will be something different than you’ve ever seen before. The MSG Sphere at The Venetian is also meant to open up by the end of the year.
The Earth Is Not Flat
Referred to as an Exosphere with 580,000 square feet of programmable lighting will contain 17,500 seats. It will also have the biggest and highest-resolution LED screen on the planet.
A Las vegas spokesperson had the following to say about the spectacular project:
“What we’re going to have with the MSG Sphere is something no other city has. There’s not going to be any other entertainment venue like that. It’s going to open every single day of the year and is a spectacular addition to the Las Vegas community and a real difference maker.”
I have to say, this thing looks absolutely insane!
On top of all this, Universal Studio just announced in January that they will build a 365 days a year Horror Park right next to the Strip.
Massive Events Coming Up
As you can see, there are a lot of reasons why Las Vegas is looking like it will be back bigger and better than ever before. It should come as a surprise since that’s basically what the desert city has always done.
Even though people travel from all over the world to get a taste of the Las Vegas experience, the ones in charge never stop working towards bringing new events to town.
World’s Biggest Conventions
You are probably aware that many of the world’s biggest conventions take place in Vegas, bringing millions of people each year. Just as an example, in January 2023, the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) had 115,000 attendees, including 40,000 from 140 different countries.
Formula 1 Comes to Las Vegas
Yes, that’s right. There’s a Formula 1 Grand Prix coming to Las Vegas in mid-november and you can imagine the excitement surrounding an event like this. I mean this will be one of the biggest events in the world.
The expectations are as high as ever and just the visitor spending alone is looking to be around $1 billion, just for the Grand Prix. It is going to be something special watching the cars fly along the Strip past all the legendary hotels.
Super Bowl LVIII
Since the last Super Bowl was played just a couple of weeks ago, the next one won’t take place until early 2024. It will however be played at the Allegiant Stadium in Vegas, giving the city another huge event.
“We are going to show the world what we mean by being a category of one. There is no other city in the world that even has the opportunity to try and treat 65,000 attendees at the Super Bowl or 100,000 attendees at a Formula 1 race like VIPs. We’re going to do that here and make a statement while we do it”, said a representative.
Not Yet Fully Recovered
The world still hasn’t recovered fully from the pandemic and even a place like Las Vegas is still suffering, no matter how great things are looking. They are working hard and are on their way to get back to normal but it’s still a way to go.
For example, before the pandemic hit, Chinese tourists and other high-end gamblers from around the world contributed massively to the city’s success. Unfortunately travel restrictions and rules around vaccination have put a stop to big parts of tourism. Until everything has fully opened up again, a big piece of the puzzle continues to be missing.
Las Vegas believes it will take another 6 months or so before the international flights will return to how it was.
The Las Vegas Experience
One thing that makes Las Vegas unique is the fact that the things it can offer simply can’t be bought online and shipped to your home. Not even by Amazon Prime.
There’s Something for Everyone
The Las Vegas Experience involves so many different things that it’s pretty much impossible to replicate. Whether you are a wild and crazy 21-year old or simply enjoying your life to the fullest at 75, there is so much fun to be had for everyone.
