When writing the article on ‘The Most Played Slots of 2024’ last week, I have to admit I was a bit surprised to find out that The Dog House slot is as popular as it is. I guess the fact that Pragmatic Play has released as many as 5 of them should be a hint but I never thought the original would still make the top 10 list in 2024.
The latest version was dropped just a few days ago and if the name is supposed to be a hint, this one could have a bit of bite to it. Will we see a Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and/or a Vince Neil dog added to the pound? Will the soundtrack be ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’? I seriously doubt it but with a name like The Dog House – Muttley Crew, those are both fair questions. It also makes you wonder if there’s a chance that Pragmatic had to cough up a bunch of cash for using the likeness.
Alright, who’s ready to find out what these drooling mutts are up to this time?
Mutts Ahoy
When dealing with pets, there’s no natural connection to a pirate ship but that’s where we are at. The reel setup is 5×5 and I guess the graphics are a tad bit crisper than previous versions but other than that, there’s not really anything there that inspires me.
I can’t say that I’m impressed just because each dog has been given a pirate hat but the game does stay true to its core, which is all you can really ask for. One thing that makes me wonder though is why did they go with an accordion soundtrack? It’s not a nice vibe when you play.

Load Up on Wild Multipliers
One of the few features in this game are the Wild Multipliers. Whenever they are a part of a win, the multiplier(s) will be applied. You can see Multipliers of anywhere from 2x up to 10x. There can be more than one Multiplier involved in a win so with a bit of luck you’ll be able to load up on them and pocket some decent wins.
Buy Free Spins
First things first, I apologize for the fuzzy quality of the screenshot. Truth be told, I saw the quality and went back to the game to take another, only to realize that it’s actually that fuzzy on screen. I’m not sure why that is and since the images are also moving on screen, it really messes with you when looking at it. Try it out for yourself.
With all of that explained, let’s get into the actual Buy Free Spins feature. As you know, I’ve always been a fan of it so I’m glad Pragmatic included it.
The asking price for the 3 different varieties are as follows:
- 3 Scatters = 100x your bet
- 4 Scatters = 250x your bet
- 5 Scatters = 500x your bet
Personally I find the asking price to be a bit too steep and I didn’t pull the trigger while trying out the game.
How to Score Free Spins With Muttley Crew
If you don’t feel like coughing up the money for the buy feature, you can still get your Free Spins the “regular” way by landing scatters. You’ll have to land 3, 4 or 5 of them to trigger the Free Spins and this will get you as many as 10, 15 or 20 spins.
As you can see in the screenshot, I managed to land 3 scatters, which gave me the promised 10 Free Spins.
When the bonus round has been triggered, a title wave will swoop in from the side. I guess it will also take out the sun because when the bonus round begins, it’s night time and you’re still on the ship.
I did find this “special effect” quite fun so at least there’s that.
The Wild Multipliers Stays Put
So what’s different during the bonus round? I would say the biggest thing is the fact that any Multiplier that shows up, will stay put from one spin to the next. After a few spins they can add up quite nicely.
If you see the little pug on reel number 1, there’s a paw-printed mini scatter attached to it. When you’ve collected 2 or more of them, you’ll be getting an additional 5-30 new Free Spins.
Thanks to the amount of multipliers I managed to land during the Bonus Round, they eventually led up to a nice €10.65 Superb Win. There was a bit of a celebration on the screen so I figured I’d share what that looks like. After all, this was pretty much the only exciting thing that happened during my session.
I left the Bonus Round with a very solid €15.40 overall win on 10 Free Spins which felt like a success.
The Dog House: Muttley Crew – Pass or Play? ❌
Remember how I was surprised that the original Dog House was still a very popular slot? Nothing has changed after playing this version. I still have a hard time understanding it and I just don’t find anything special about the franchise. Unless you’re REALLY into dogs, I guess.
To me, The Dog House: Muttley Crew is just another vanilla latté type of slot and there are so many other games I would rather play. This doesn’t mean you won’t think I’m a blubbering idiot and consider Pragmatic’s latest canine release to be the best game ever. It’s just not for me.
Sorry, Muttley Crew! ❌
Where Can I Play The Dog House: Muttley Crew?
Good luck!
