If you’re looking for a new challenge after dominating the game of Blackjack, you may want to take a bite out of Pontoon. It’s a treat!
Stand the Test of Time
Blackjack is without a doubt one of the most popular casino games in the world and has really managed to stand the test of time. Whether you’re taking care of business on the Las Vegas Strip or playing from the couch at home, the number 21 holds a special place in our hearts.
If you are a big fan of Blackjack, just like me, I think you will really enjoy the game Pontoon.
Long Lost Cousin
I don’t know if it should be known as Blackjack’s little brother or long lost cousin but on the surface, the two games pretty much look the same. Not only that, your mission is still to get as close to 21 as you possibly can.
So what’s the difference between the games? If I was to keep it short, I would say that there are a few minor tweaks to the rules that is the reason why players all over the world find this game both exciting and most of all a lot of fun.
Let’s take a look!
The Five Card Trick
Have you ever heard of the five-card trick? I agree, it does sound like something you would hear in an old Clint Eastwood Western movie.
As you are on your quest for the holy grail, number 21, every now and then you might get dealt what can feel like a half deck of low cards. In this game, it’s actually to be preferred.
Low Cards Can Get You Paid
Why? Because if you can score 5 cards without going bust, your hand will beat all the other hands, besides Pontoon (21). Cool, right?
Not only will it pay 2:1, it can actually pay even more. If you for example doubled down, your win will be even bigger.
Getting this many cards without going bust isn’t easy but knowing it will pay off makes the whole thing even more exciting.

Splitting Your Aces
Who doesn’t love splitting Aces in Blackjack? I know I do. Unfortunately you won’t be allowed to cash out on the big Blackjack payout though, if you were to get it, which is a shame.
Pontoon won’t hold that against you at all. Instead, in this game you can still achieve Pontoon (21) even after a split. I told you there’s something special about Pontoon!

Double Down With More Than Two Cards
Even though it’s tough not to, I try not to double down at every opportunity I get in Blackjack. I also wish you could double down even if you have more than two cards but that’s just part of the game.
Don’t worry, Pontoon is here for the rescue. This game fortunately allows you to be a bit wilder. Even if you have more than two cards, you can still go all in and double up. This way you are one step closer to the big bucks and laughing all the way to the bank!

Mystery Cards
The fact that the dealer will always show you one card is standard in Blackjack. Despite all the generous rule differences I’ve mentioned above, this one is not as much fun.
In Pontoon, both dealer cards will be facing down, leaving you blind. Clearly this removes the option for a player to use a certain strategy, considering you are not sure what you are going up against.
Going in Blind
Basically you’re going into the Octagon without knowing who you’re fighting. This example was obviously exaggerated but you get my point.
Some players might see it as bs while others see it as a fun challenge. Which one are you?

Are You Ready to Conquer the Game of Pontoon?
Come on, you have to admit that Pontoon sounds like a really fun challenge? Despite being such a popular game all over the world, for some reason it still manages to fly under the radar.
However, now that you know the differences and realize how much fun it sounds, I have a feeling you’re already on your way to play it. If so, you can find the game at most casinos but definitely at Cloudbet, Fortune Jack and BitStarz.
As always, I wish you the best of luck!
