Even with the crazy amount of slots available today, sometimes you want to play something new. Luckily new releases are hitting the shelves pretty much on a daily basis so there’s no shortage of fresh blood, or reels rather.
Are Games Really Exclusive?
Then there are the exclusive releases where you get a chance to play before the game hits the open market and can be found at most other casinos. Normally, the exclusivity will last for about 7 days or so, depending on the deal.
However, most of the time, the game provider strikes a deal with a few selected casinos so the game can actually be played in more places than one. In other words, not necessarily a true exclusive.
BitStarz players for example are often treated to exclusive games and the same goes for mBit and KingBilly.
Two exclusive games can be found at BitStarz right now so I decided to head over there and take a closer look. The games in question are Piedra del Sol by Platipus and Cyber Wolf from Endorphina and after a thrilling coinflip I decided to give Piedra del Sol a few spins.
Piedra del Sol – Platipus
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Piedra del Sol because I feel I can tell pretty quickly whether or not it’ll be an interesting game just by looking at it. In this case, besides the jackpots, I immediately noticed the Buy Feature which is one of my favorite features. When I later realized there’s also a Wheel of Fortune, Piedra del Sol had my full attention.
While exploring the ancient Temple of the Sun in the jungles of South America, you are looking at a 5 reel, 50 payline slot with high volatility and a 95.00% RTP. But as far as graphics are concerned, the quality could be a lot better.
Theme and Symbols
The Aztec theme is far from new and I wish there could be some new creative development in this area but it seems like most providers stick to the same themes, time and time again.
Gold statuettes and other gold inflated symbols are of course the main ingredients, looking to create a feel of you chasing the riches. Just to make the theme even more authentic, other symbols like a compass, map and notebook complete the Indiana Jones wannabe starter kit.
Let the Sun Stone Guide You
The Sun Stone is considered a mysterious relic but it is also the bonus symbol that will take you to a multi-layered Bonus Wheel.
Landing 5 Sun Stone symbols is the key to happiness, or at least it can be since it will trigger the wheel. You can win multipliers, Free Spins or a jackpot but the prizes on the wheel depend completely on how many bonus symbols you manage to land. It’s a smorgasbord of treats!
- 5 Bonus Symbols = 3x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 75x or 100x
- 6 Bonus Symbols = 6x, 10x, 12x, 14x, 16x, 20x, 30x. 40x, 50x, 100x,150x, 200x
- 7 Bonus Symbols = 9x, 15x, 18x, 21x, 24x, 30x, 45x, 60x, 75x, 150x, 225x or 300x
- 8 Bonus Symbols = 15x, 25x, 30x, 35x, 40x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 125x, 250x, 375x or 500x
Free Spins
- 5 Bonus Symbols = 8 Free Spins
- 6 Bonus Symbols = 12 Free Spins
- 7 Bonus Symbols = 18 Free Spins
- 8 Bonus Symbols = 20 Free Spins
How to Scoop up a Jackpot
There are 3 types of symbols on the wheel: Multipliers, Free Spins and an arrow. If you get the arrow you will move on to the next level where the jackpots are. Should you land on the arrow once again, you’ll win the Grand jackpot.
- Mini Jackpot = 1,000 bets per line
- Minor Jackpot = 5,000 bets per line
- Major Jackpot = 10,000 bets per line
- Grand Jackpot = 100,000 bets per line
I was actually lucky enough to win the Mini jackpot but was disappointed considering it only gave me $100 on a $5 bet. Yes, it sounds crazy I know, but when you win any kind of jackpot you want it to result in a major payout.
Buy Your Way to the Bonus Wheel
I mentioned the Buy Feature being one of my favorites and it is. Often the price is too high and you really question whether or not it’s worth it but in this case I wanted to try to see how it would play out.
Luckily you can pick how many bonus symbols you want to “buy”.
- 5 Bonus Symbols = 32x your bet
- 6 Bonus Symbols = 48x your bet
- 7 Bonus Symbols = 68x your bet
- 8 Bonus Symbols = 86x your bet
During my first attempt, I decided to go all in for the 8 Sun Stones. This turned out to be the time where I won the Mini jackpot, which was only worth $100 which didn’t exactly make me want to pop a bottle of bubbly!
I decided to go back to the Buy Feature and try again. This time I chose the cheapest version, 5 Sun Stones.
The wheel stopped at 8 Free Spins, which if I’m being honest, I think is a lot better than a multiplier. Or at least it’s more fun.
If you end up with Free Spins, you can actually make it back to the Bonus Wheel by landing another 5 or more Sun Stones. This happened to me and the wheel spin gave me a 50x multiplier and $250.
On the other hand, I ended up pretty much empty handed during all those Free Spins but I was happy with a $256.50 total win.
I’m quite happy with Piedra del Sol as a game and how it performs. In my opinion, all slots should have the Buy Feature as an option. Why not? I highly doubt I’m the only one and I think it would be very appealing to players.
A Wheel of Fortune or Bonus Wheel is another favorite feature but it feels more like a bonus and isn’t as necessary as the option to buy your way into the bonus round.
Piedra del Sol has both of them, which is a big reason why I enjoyed playing it so much. Graphics wise it’s far from great which was disappointing so without the above mentioned two features, I would have suggested that you skip it and move on to the next slot.
With that said, I had a great time playing and even managed to win some money, including a Mini jackpot, which results in me recommending you taking Piedra del Sol for a spin.
