At first I was a bit confused when I saw the name Draco’s Gold. Is this some kind of Harry Potter adventure with Draco Malfoy stealing the show? Well, I was wrong. Instead it brought me back to the years where the Lord of the Rings dominated Hollywood.
An Absolute Beast
Mancala Gaming latest release is an absolute beast in terms of graphics and I never shy away from giving credit where credit is due. The Draco’s Gold slot might as well be called Smaug’s Lair because this baddass of a dragon is literally swimming in gold.
What are the chances of you, myself and other players getting our hands on a hefty chunk of it? Let’s find out as I take a deep dive into a divine looking game and explore the ins and outs of it.
Follow me into the belly of the beast!
Fiery Eyes
Draco’s Gold has 40 paylines and a 5×3 reel setup. I love the crisp graphics and there are some cool details to study. The fact that the dragon is moving throughout the game makes things even better. Looking at the dragon’s eye, you’ll see there’s only fire and instead, the eye is being used as one of the symbols and I think it looks pretty cool.
Dragon Tooth – More Like a Rhino Horn?
As you can see there are some cool looking high paying symbols but I’m a bit disappointed in the dragon tooth. Or at least that’s what I assume it is. It looks more like a rhino horn to me but what do I know.
Another detail that I enjoyed was the glimmer that some of the symbols get during spin, which also adds some spark to the gameplay.

Get Wild With Draco
I don’t think I saw any Wilds for a long time when I first started playing, or at least they didn’t have any noticeable impact. In fact, my winning percentage over my first 30 or so spins was ridiculously low and normally I would’ve shut the game down.
The first time I did react to the Wilds was in the bonus game. When one of them appears, it will only do so on the middle reels. It has the ability to expand across the full reel BUT it won’t always do so.
If it expands in the bonus game, it will bring you a 2x-7x multiplier.
The Golden Egg is a Disappointment
I don’t know if it’s just me but when a golden egg shows up as a symbol, I expect it to be important and have a major impact on the game. The egg is considered a Special Symbol here but doesn’t really mean anything other than a minor payout if you land 3 or more of them.
Sadly, Mancala managed to fool me with this one but I think it should trigger some sort of bonus game at least.
Trigger the Bonus Game
A symbol that actually can trigger the bonus game is of course the scatter. Called Draco’s Gold, you’ll need 3 of them to get the job done. This will get you 10 Free Spins while landing 4 or 5 scatters will get you as many as 15 or 30.
There is a shortcut on the table if you want it. You can buy 10 Free Spins for the price of 54x your stake, which isn’t too bad. I definitely thought about it because it took me a really long time before I was able to trigger the bonus round. The only reason I didn’t was because of the asking price.
Draco’s Gold Free Spins
After landing 4 scatters after I don’t know how many spins, 15 Free Spins were coming my way. Just like in many other games, the biggest change between the bonus round and the base game was the light (colors).
As I mentioned earlier, this is where I first encountered the expanded Wilds and the effect they could have. With two reels filled with Wilds, I was able to score a very nice win. You saw the actual screenshot of the Wilds earlier but the outcome was this:
Draco’s Gold – Pass or Play?
As I mentioned in the beginning, I barely scored a single win during my first 30 or so spin. This doesn’t fly with me and you can imagine how close I was to shut it down and throw it in the trash.
Even after I saw at least a couple of wins, I still didn’t manage to trigger the bonus round for ages. Yes, it’s a great looking game and every spin has some excitement but up until this point I felt I needed at least to get some Free Spins before I could even think about recommending the game to others.
Despite having monetary success in the bonus round, I have my doubts about this game. I would like to see another feature besides Free Spins to make it better.
Something’s Missing
I do feel the game is missing something but at the same time I did win some good money and the graphics are exceptional. Unfortunately, I don’t feel like Draco’s Gold is a new personal favorite but I think you should give it a couple of spins just to see how good a game can look.
Draco’s Gold barely gets a passing grade ✅
