At the end of this month Johannesburg, South Africa, will be hosting the 9th edition of BiG Africa Summit. The focus this year is to give the attendees a “glimpse into the continent’s bright future” and reunite the African igaming industry.
Important Presentations and Discussions
BiG Africa Summit 2023 is hoping to be a one-stop-shop for all things regarding iGaming in Africa. This means offering informative presentations leading to insightful discussions with some of the best and brightest minds involved in the industry.
Licensing, Marketing and Financial Intelligence Centre Act Requirements
Regulation for online gambling in South Africa has become a pressing topic and there are a lot of things to be discussed. With a potential full regulation on the horizon, it means that some operational changes could be taking place around licensing, marketing and Financial Intelligence Centre Act requirements.
The BiG Africa Summit will open its doors to offer iGaming stakeholders networking opportunities and insights around regulations, investment and market opportunities in Africa.
Foreign Investments
Over the past decade or so, there has been a steady amount of foreign investments making its way into the African market. The reason for this is that the investors have seen an encouraging growth of online players. Also, there has been a supportive regulatory approach by African governments.
A Growing iGaming Market
There’s no denying that Africa has developed into a growing, yet sustainable, iGaming market. Having events such as the BiG Africa Summit 2023 will continue to create a buzz for the industry as a whole.
During this year’s event, the attendees will be able to learn more about certain strategies for attracting international investors to the African platforms. Another big thing is that there will also be great opportunities for meeting the actual investors during many of the networking events.

The event has invited more than 50 keynote speakers. All of them coming from leading authorities, operators, investors as well as advisers from inside the fascinating iGaming eco-system.
Here are some of the speakers attending the event:

Women Are Taking Over
I was happy to find out that today, as many as 40% of the iGaming workforce in Africa consists of women. The percentage in managerial roles is quite a bit lower but it seems to definitely be heading in the right direction.
Massive Potential
There’s no denying that Africa as a whole is the next big market and I don’t just mean big in terms of land mass. It has massive potential and it will be interesting to see how it develops over the next 5-10 years. There already is a lot of crypto being used so let’s see how it transfers over to the online casino industry.
