If you’re someone who refuses to watch a scary movie without having a pillow within an arm’s reach to cover your face during the scary bits, then perhaps this is as far as you should read. The reason for this “disclaimer” if you will, is of course the new Beheaded slot by Nolimit City.
Not only is it one of the creepier slots I’ve seen in a long time but in true Nolimit fashion, the volatility is insane. Add those two ingredients together, mix it up and boom – you are in for a treat!
Pay Attention, Horror Connoisseurs
On the other hand, if Voodoo spirits, horror movies and overall darkness is what gives you the fuel you need to get through life, then this game might be your new favorite and shoot straight up to the top of the list.
Who’s ready to explore the deepest, darkest secrets of Nolimit’s latest creation? Well alright then, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Turn the Lights Off
There’s no denying that Beheaded should be played in the dark in order to get the full experience. Hear me when I say that playing it on your phone during your commute to work or during a coffee break in a well lit kitchen simply won’t do it justice.
It’s all in a name, is an old expression that seems fitting at this moment. I mean, just looking at the screenshot above should give you an indication of what you can expect from Beheaded. There are literally chopped off heads hanging as symbols and it looks like something out of a Mexican drug cartel movie.
I’m sure it’s a conscious decision by Nolimit to keep all symbols a bit faded instead of sharp and detailed. You’ll be playing a 5×4 reel setup with 178 paylines.
Cut the Ropes
Before I move on and get into the nitty gritty of the many features, I want to give you a heads up (excuse the pun) about a cool detail when you land a winning combination. When there’s a win, you will see a knife slicing off the rope that holds the heads.
Creepy but still an important part of the game that caught my attention the more I played. Another nice touch that adds to the horror vibe is the chanting that comes on from time to time. Keep those lights off and take it all in.

Keep Your Eye on the Progression Bar
Right off the bat there’s a feature that will give you something to focus on. You’ll find it right below the reels and it’s the Progression Bar. It will tell you just how many points you need in order to fill it up and there are as many as 5 different levels to it.
- Level 1: 15 points
- Level 2: 25 points
- Level 3: 50 points
- Level 4: 80 points
- Level 5: 110 points
How to Score Points
The way to fill up the bar is of course by scoring wins and thereby points. Just like with the Cascading Reels feature or Avalanche, each win removes the symbols involved and gets you a respin where you can continue to grow your win. In this case it means leveling up by scoring points.
It all comes down to the type of symbols involved in each win, how many points you’ll get.
- Wild Symbol – 3 points per winning symbol
- High Paying Symbol – 2 points per winning symbol
- Medium Paying Symbol – 1 point per winning symbol
As long as a respin continues to give you wins, the level ups will continue. However, all good things must come to an end and as soon as you get a winless spin you’ll be sent back to square one.
Soul Wilds & Soul Collectors
Carved into the tree on the left are the faces of the 3 Soul Wilds. Each of them are known as Soul Collectors and are the ones collecting the souls from the dropped heads. The souls they feed on come from the High Paying symbols. It sounds pretty nasty, I know.
All 3 of them requires X amount of souls from you in order to be activated:
- Level 1 Happy Soul Wild – Needs 4 souls
- Level 3 Sad Soul Wild – Needs 10 souls
- Level 5 Angry Soul Wild – Needs 18 souls
Once activated, they can grant you a big Wild of up to 3×3 or it can get you a Multiplier. As long as you keep feeding them, they will continue to grant you gifts.
Ayahuasca and Tzantza Spins
No, unfortunately Nolimit is not treating you to a magical hallucination experience with the help of Ayahuasca but it does have the potential of leading to bigger wins.
Every time you reach a new level on the Progression Bar, you will get 2 extra spins. Each level will also replace medium paying symbols with high paying ones.
Should you make it all the way to Level 5, you’ll get an extra 10 spins, known as Tzantza Spins.
I only made it to Level 4, which felt like quite an accomplishment if I’m being honest.
Pick a Potion – Win Big or Lose it All
The Max Win in the game is 15,950x and it is of course hiding in the last level. As an extra Voodoo treat, there’s a feature known as Pick a Potion. This will be triggered if you run through your Tzantza Spins without getting the max payout.
When activated, you get to take your pick between the following 2 options:
- Butterfly Bottle – Will guarantee a win between 5-8,000x your bet.
- Skull Bottle – Gamble your entire accumulated win for a shot at the Max Win. If you don’t get the Max Win, you will lose it all.
Grab the Nolimit Bonus and Save Time
As always with Nolimit City games, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of the Nolimit Bonus option. It’s the Bonus Buy and if you’re willing to cough up the money required, then it’s a great option.
Set your bet level and the price you’ll have to pay will appear right there on your screen. Paying 100x your bet for 6 Ayahuasca Spins felt a bit steep for me personally so I skipped it this time around but as you can see, you’ll have a couple of different options.
Beheaded – Pass or Play?
Man, this one was definitely on the darker side of games and truth be told, usually that’s not a good thing. I mean you can show off dead bodies and whatever else you deem necessary but doesn’t mean you have a great game. However, I have to be honest and say that Beheaded was a better game than I first suspected.
Nolimit City used to be one of my favorite providers but I have felt they have dropped the ball a bit over the last year or so. Even though horror films are no longer my jam, I was pleasantly surprised over how much I enjoyed playing Beheaded.
A lot of it had to do with the Progression Bar that keeps you focused on a task with each spin. Once you’ve gotten the 15 points to get past the first level, it can go pretty quick and I found it intriguing to follow the progress on the screen.
If you can ignore the fact that there are hanging heads, soul collectors and Voodoo chanting taking place in the background, then I think you’ll really enjoy playing Beheaded.
Beheaded gets a ✅ from me!
