Who doesn’t love a good banquet, am I right? To be honest I don’t really care much for banquets myself because they are always way too stiff and formal for my taste. Most of the people there are often too full of themselves and see the event as yet another opportunity to blow up their already big egos even more.
Let’s just say it’s not the place to let loose and have fun. If that happens, it’s not until much later when most of the “important stuff” has been handled and the booze has started to flow a bit more frequently.
Be the Life of the Party
A Banquet of Dead however sounds like it would be a lot more relaxed and the participants hopefully don’t care as much and basically anything goes. I mean, what do they have to lose by attempting to be the life of the party?
At least that’s the picture I have in my head as I’m navigating through the tombs on my way to the latest release from Play’n GO – Banquet of Dead.
Queen Nitocris promises to throw one heck of a party. The invitation said Free Spins, Expanding Symbols, Symbol Removal and Gamble as far as feature goes.
So, if you’re not busy, come with me and let’s find out what kind of shindig the immortal Goddess has in mind.
Drop Dead Gorgeous
I can’t help inserting these puns whenever an opportunity presents itself but who can blame me, right? I mean, there’s more colors and life in this one screenshot than in the entire movie ‘Killers of the Flower Moon.’
There’s no question that Play’n GO has designed a spectacular setting for the divine as the graphics are stunning. Both the Queen and the crocodile-faced Sobek are both prominent figures and dressed to the teeth (pun very much intended).
The dark visual canvas, complemented by bright golden hues peppered across the reels is impressive. Gold and fruit seems to be the secret to all divine parties so it’s not a shock to see it here.
It is simply a great looking game, hopefully setting the bar for others to follow.

Gamble and Double Your Winnings
As soon as I saw the way Banquet of Dead looked, I thought this slot is going to have some fun features. When slowly realizing I had to lower my expectations quite a bit, it felt like a bit of a let down, I’m not going to lie.
The only feature that is in play outside of the Free Spins is Gamble. I used to be a big fan of the Gamble option but haven’t actually used it in a long time. There’s no particular reason why, except the fact that the games I’ve tested haven’t included it.
Six Straight Misses
You can choose to Gamble after each win and my go to strategy is always to pick Red. Normally that works pretty well but in this case the first 6 times, the presented card ended up being Black. Meaning I lost all of them. It wasn’t until the 7th card that a Red showed up and I got my first win.
There’s no doubt it’s a great way to increase your winnings but you also have to remember that you might lose your entire win as well, so perhaps pick your moments when you decide to Gamble, ok.
How to Get Free Spins
It takes 3 scatters to kick off the Free Spin feature and to be honest, it took me quite a while to get there. I don’t know how many spins it took but let me tell you, I was getting close to giving up.
Select A Special Symbol
Before you can start putting your Free Spins to the test, you’ll have to get a special symbol selected. This is done per automatic and a random symbol will be the one that can get you the payout you’re looking for.
You will start off with 7 spins but they can be re-triggered.
Expanding Symbols
The selected symbol will rise up and expand across the entire reel when landed. You’ll need 2 or 3 of them to appear before you get to see the expanding effect take place. A couple of them together can lead to some nice wins.
Symbol Removal
Another feature is called Symbol Removal, which is pretty self explanatory. Every time the Expansion feature is activated, the lowest paying symbol will be removed before all remaining Free Spins.
You can see the list above the reels and how they are being removed, one by one. Should your special symbol be the one being removed, don’t worry, you’ll get a new one.
Banquet of Dead – Pass or Play?
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a new slot that’s been as visually pleasing as Banquet of Dead. With that said, it didn’t do much for my appreciation of the game, besides just the looks. It took me a long time before I finally got 3 scatters and could experience the bonus round.
I recall wondering if the volatility was extremely high because I barely hit any wins at all and there were no fun features kicking in and helping me out at the time.
I’m glad I continued to play as I finally got the opportunity to test out the Free Spins and the features accompanying them.
Was it enough for the gameplay to match the graphics of the game? Hmm, I’m not sure about that. The bonus round was a decent experience but unfortunately I don’t feel it was enough to make me want to come back for more.
Once again, Banquet of Dead is a great looking game but I don’t feel I can give it another verdict than being a Pass ❌.
Where Can I Play Banquet of Dead?
Good luck!
