There are a lot of reasons why players don’t win when playing slots. Some players are 100% convinced they are real while most of us call them myths. I’ve lined up a few of them down below. What’s your take?
Master of Excuses
At some level we are all guilty of making up excuses when things just don’t go our way. You may not be but you’ve definitely met more than one Master of Excuses, am I right?
Casino players are experts at making up excuses and you can only imagine the type of ridiculousness support agents get thrown at them.
Stay Away From the Color Red
Did you hear about the player who didn’t win big because his chair was red? Everyone knows that the color red has a tiny portion of aluminum in it which has a negative effect on slots.
Obviously I just made that up but it’s just an example of some dumb things people would say. The example was a bit extreme, sure, but you get my point.
Listed below are some of the slot myths out there.
Enjoy!
Myth #1- Slots Are Rigged
This might be the number one myth in the casino industry and the one you hear the most. I would say the majority of casino players have had this thought at some point, especially after a mood killing losing streak.
Casinos themselves are often being accused of having rigged games and being able to trust your casino is extremely important in my book. The bottom line is that casinos do not have any influence over the outcome of your spins.
Random Number Generator
The RNG makes sure every spin (game round) is completely random and not influenced by the spin that preceded it. Secondly, regulators test and audit RNGs as part of the certification process to ensure that slots are generating the payout percentage as claimed, so players can be sure they are given a fair chance to win.
There are millions of random combinations being calculated every second, even if you are not playing.
Checked by the Gambling Authorities
Not only is the RNG the one controlling the outcome of the game, for a casino or game developer to be able to keep its license to operate, the fairness of its games will be checked by the gambling authorities. Trust me, you don’t want to be caught cheating!
If you are still unsure if you can trust the casino or not, you can protect yourself by making sure you play at licensed and trustworthy casinos.
Myth #2 – You Have Less Chance of Winning if You Use a Bonus
The fact is that slots have no idea who’s playing and where you get your money from. Whether it is a free spin or bonus money you are using, does not have any effect on the outcome.
As an example, there have been players who have won more than one Mega Moolah jackpot while using free spins from their welcome bonus.
Myth #3 – You Can Only Win Progressive Jackpot if You Are a High Roller
The truth is that yes, there are some progressive jackpot games that require you to bet the max and get to the bonus round. That doesn’t mean you need to be a high roller to get the job done.
I understand that it can cost a lot, always betting max, but don’t forget that there are many progressive jackpots you can win with any size bet.
Anyone who plays is in the running and neither the casino or game provider have control over who will be the one claiming the jackpot in the end.
Just like in so many other situations, it all comes down to luck and how lucky you are in that particular moment.
Myth #4 – Using Autoplay Prevents You From Winning
This one is funny. The autoplay function has been added solely for the convenience of the player and not for the casino to trick you. Remember the RNG?
Instead of having to press spin every 3-5 seconds, how great is it that you can set it on auto while you sit back and relax while sipping on a drink? Maybe you have other things you need to do as well?
Autoplay is the perfect solution and you should see it as your friend, not your enemy.
Myth #5 – It’s Easier to Win at Certain Times of the Day
I wish this was true and so would probably most other casino players. If it was, I’m pretty sure everyone would play then and casinos would see no action for the rest of the day.
The answer is no, it’s just not true. Once again, the RNG is in charge and it has absolutely no idea what time it is or even what day it is. Your chances of winning are just as big on a Tuesday afternoon as it is on Christmas morning.
In other words, there’s no need for you to adjust your sleep schedule based on “winnable hours”.
Myth #6 – Keep Playing the Same Game Increases Your Chances of Winning
Refusing to stop playing a game because you think if you play it long enough you’ll win is another myth floating around.
It does not matter how long you play the game, because every new spin is different and is not in any way affected by the previous spin. You don’t build up to a win after x amount of spins.
The truth is, you will win or you will lose, but it has nothing to do with how long you have played the game.
You also may have heard that if you win big on one spin, you won’t be able to win big on the next spin or even anytime soon. It’s basically the same principle and completely baseless.
Do You Agree?
Ok, so now that you have read about some of the slot myths, what’s your take? Are they myths or are you convinced they are 100% real and have a negative impact on your play?
As mentioned above, I recommend playing at a trustworthy casino to give yourself the best odds. Just click here and take your pick. I’ve written reviews on them all, just for you.
Good luck!
