Man, where did time go? Another year has just flown by and we’re rapidly closing in on the end of 2023. I know, I know, we say it every year and it’s as annoying to say it as it is to hear it but there’s just no other way around it. It does seem like it goes by even faster the older you get though, right? So in order not to have to get into it and dissect it even more, let’s just stick to the good old ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ phrase.
Let’s Ask the Crystal Ball
When a new year comes knocking, we’re almost forced to try and guess what next year’s going to be like. Will we finally see flying cars? How about a 20 hour work week? Will Elon change the name of Twitter once again? Who knows but I’m still curious about what’s coming next and I think you guys are too.
I Want Some Answers
I’ve turned to the spirits and asked them what’s in store for crypto casino players next year. I went as far as buying myself a crystal ball. I found the magic 8-ball from the boxes in the basement and gave it multiple shakes. Believe it or not, I even brought out the Ouija board and took it for a spin in order to get an idea of what’s to come. Truth be told, my family had to stop me from running around town looking for Tarot card readers.
All I want to know is what we can or should expect from crypto casinos during 2024. Did I get any answers? Keep on reading and find out.
1) Virtual Reality
Players have been expecting entrance to the VR kingdom for quite some time now but it still hasn’t hit the industry as big as we had hoped. SlotsMillion was the one knocking the doors down on this new adventure and has grown substantially over the years. After a slow start, players can now explore hundreds of VR Games and I must say, the lobby looks amazing.
Extra Expenses
There’s no denying that Virtual and Augmented Reality will be the future but it’s still not for everyone. One of the biggest obstacles for players is of course the $500 or so expense for a set of Oculus Thrift or whatever other VR Headset you might need.
It’s also not very convenient if you just want to jump on for a few minutes while you’re waiting for your pasta to boil or your laundry to finish. Wearing the headset during your commute to work or during lunchtime would attract way too many eyes and questions from your surroundings, making it not worth your while, am I right?
What would be some fun things AR and VR would bring to your casino experience?
- Blurring the Boundaries of Realism: With VR, players can move around the virtual casino floors in ways that are even better than in physical casinos. It’s a surreal and magical world but how fun it is.
- Enhanced Social Experience: From virtual poker tables to a variety of chat functions, the social element of VR is very inviting.
- Variety of Games: Even the most basic games become an entirely different experience with the addition of AR and VR dimensions. Imagine roulette where the wheel seems to spin out of your screen, or slot games where the symbols are virtually alive, adding a layer of excitement to the traditional.
- Accessibility: Let’s be honest, there’s a massive difference between playing online and going to Las Vegas. With a VR headset on your head, playing at home will be even more fun! Not having to spend money on flights and hotels makes the initial headset investment a lot more appealing..
- New to Gambling? No Problem: VR casinos are the perfect way to learn and will offer special rooms where you can learn the ins and outs of each casino game. Not only can you learn new games and how it all works, I bet you can pick up a few strategies along the way.
- Innovative Marketing: Casinos themselves can invite players to virtual tours and offer VR-based loyalty rewards etc. Being able to catch a preview of an upcoming release is almost like going to a movie premiere. The opportunities are endless and the real winners will be the players.
The Next Generation of Gamblers
Gambling sites are investing in Virtual Reality platforms that support VR slots and table games. It is expected that soon, the number of casinos offering virtual reality slots, live casino and table games will begin to multiply quickly.
I unfortunately can’t promise but I do hope that we will see a lot more VR in 2024 but it’s definitely around the corner. After all, this is the kind of immersive gambling experience that the next generation of gamblers will demand from casinos.
2) Mobile First Approach
In an era where the smartphone is king, online casinos are some of the best at adopting a mobile-first approach. Players don’t necessarily require casinos to have their own apps but they better make sure that gameplay, design and everything else is flawless on the phone, or they’ll move on.
In 2024, we can expect to see more casinos optimizing their entire product for mobile play, with a big focus on providing seamless, high-quality gaming experiences that can be accessed anywhere at any time.
Most Popular Way to Play
The mobile became the most popular way of playing a long time ago, but we will surely see an even bigger shift towards mobile gaming as smartphones become more powerful and mobile internet speeds increase.
With better technologies like 5G, the mobile gaming experience will likely become just as good as playing on a desktop. I’m expecting it to become even better than that!
Today’s players are very tech-savvy and the demands are higher than ever before. The casinos who can be the most innovative or at least be able to keep up with the new requirements from players will be the ones who are the most successful.
3) More Crash Games
I think the popularity of Crash games surprised a lot of people, me included. Considering how basic most of them look, they stand no chance compared to slots as far as visuals goes. With that said, I believe it’s the human element that is making them so highly sought after, in the way that you can decide when you want to get out before the crash takes place. This gives you some control over your own destiny, which slots are lacking.
I am now a huge fan of Crash games and the majority of the casinos will have at least some of them but one of the spots with the biggest selection is JustBit. During 2024, we will see a lot more of these games being released and they will be more and more complex.
4) Esports Betting
There is a misconception that gaming, crypto or otherwise, is only a virtual experience. Let me tell you that there are millions of people who love to watch gaming championships, either by attending in person or streaming the event. It’s becoming increasingly more popular each year and 2024 won’t be any different.
Did you know that there are Esports tournaments that have been around for over a decade? One example is the League of Legends World Championship and then there are some newer ones too. The Gamers8 Festival in Saudi Arabia for example, had a $30 million prize pool earlier this summer.
As Esports become an even bigger trend, so is betting on particular players or matches. There are lots of crypto casinos that allow you to place bets on the outcome of a game or tournament much like they would on a physical sporting event.
Examples of this are:
I think we can all agree on the fact that Esports Betting is here to stay.
5) Personalized Casino Experience
Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to revolutionize casino gaming by offering a more personalized experience. Imagine an online casino that knows your favorite games, understands your habits, and tailors its recommendations and bonuses to suit your preferences. Sounds good, right?
Let’s face it, not all players are VIP but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to feel like one, at least from time to time. I think one of the biggest movements in the year to come will be a more personalized gambling experience.
Everything will be catered for your specific needs, just to create the most perfect and unique experience for each player. This is a big step in the right direction because this level of personalization will enhance player engagement and loyalty.
6) Social Gambling
Playing at a casino has always had a social element to it, at least in physical casinos. I believe the online version is about to take some major steps towards becoming more social with the rise of social gambling.
Social gambling refers to the new trend where players can interact, compete, and even collaborate. This can involve anything from multiplayer poker games to slot tournaments to social casino apps, where players can share their progress and other types of achievements with others on social media.
Considering how digitally connected our lives are becoming, there’s no way social gambling will not take off. I expect the line between gaming and social networking will become even more blurred in 2024, making gambling a more social and interactive experience.
Being a part of a community where you can connect and interact with other players, just like with video games, is something that players are searching for.
7) The Explosion of Artificial Intelligence
We’ve already covered how our gambling experiences will become even more personalized in the upcoming year, which is great. But there’s a lot more that AI will help improve our favorite casinos.
Some of the most important areas where AI will be extremely important and effective are:
- Improved Fraud Detection and Prevention
- Chatbots for Customer Support
- Enhanced Security Measures
- Game Development and Design
- Regulatory Compliance
We are still only in the early days of figuring out all the ways to use Artificial Intelligence.
8) In-Game Rewards & Collectibles
Making games even more appealing to players by adding different types of quests, challenges or in-game collectibles is something that is on the way. Already in existence, more casinos will start using NFTs but there can be rewards, collectibles or even tokens available in the games.
Players can then either sell or swap their NFTs with other players in return for currency or perhaps unique experiences or assets within the game.
All of this will help enhance player engagement, loyalty and make the gambling experience more immersive and overall more enjoyable.
9) Increased Adoption of Cryptocurrencies
This one feels like a given and the use of Crypto will definitely keep getting bigger and bigger going forward. Crypto casinos have proven over and over that there’s a huge interest in being able to use cryptocurrency, resulting in more traditional casinos being forced to make adjustments and join the movement.
Potential transaction fees or the overall volatility do not defer players wanting to enjoy their benefits – fast transactions, lower fees, improved security, increased anonymity, and more.
10) Regulatory Changes
Governments worldwide are still figuring out how to regulate cryptocurrencies and online gambling. Regulatory changes could impact the growth and operation of crypto casinos, potentially leading to increased compliance measures.
We will for sure see some changes when it comes to licensing next year and the bottom line is that it’s a jungle out there and the adjustment in regulations will continue.
Bonus Prediction – Increased Collaboration with Traditional Casinos
I think there’s a strong possibility that we will see some crypto casinos exploring partnerships or collaborations with more traditional casinos, like the ones in Las Vegas.
It’s a good way of combining the advantages of both worlds to attract a broader audience. Although online casinos are not legal in Nevada at this time, big names like the Hard Rock Casino do have an online presence.
Bring on 2024
I see a lot of fun things coming into play next year. Some might take a little longer to reach but they are already in the works so with a bit of luck we’ll see them implemented during 2024.
Are these tarot card predictions or are they just crypto casino trends? Well, I guess it’s a thin line in between them but I think we can agree on them being a mix of both.
Let’s finish the year strong and let our curiosity grow for what’s in store when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.
