The Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant is teaming up with tech founder Stefan Thomas, as they launch a new campaign to celebrate National Burrito Day by giving away $100,000 in Bitcoin.

Did you know that the first Thursday of April is National Burrito Day? Well, now you do and you don’t want to miss it as Chipotle is going all in with a fresh, fun and crypto-focused new campaign.
The popular restaurant is taking celebration to a whole new level by launching its “Burritos or Bitcoin” campaign on April 1. Yes, it’s April Fool’s Day but this campaign is no joke and by giving away $100,000 in free burritos and another $100,000 in Bitcoin, the campaign will surely gather some interest around the country.
How to Lose 7,002 Bitcoin
If the name Stefan Thomas rings a bell, Founder and CEO of Coil, you may also remember how he managed to lose his login to the hard drive holding his private key to his massive 7,002 Bitcoin portfolio. Imagine that!
Now teaming up with Chipotle, the campaign is playfully mocking his misfortune by asking fans to crack a code to a digital wallet and the big win.
Burritos or Bitcoin
Launching the burritosorbitcoin.com campaign website (open to U.S. market only,) participants will get 10 tries to figure out a 6-digit code, where the prize is a free burrito or up to $25,000 in Bitcoin.
While 10,000 players will be given a free burrito, 50 will take home Bitcoin worth $500 and 3 lucky fans will cash in on BTC to the value of $25,000.
Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer says in a statement that “National Burrito Day is a huge moment for Chipotle as our fans traditionally flock to our restaurants. We’re always looking for unique ways to enhance the celebration, and this year, we’re giving fans the opportunity to acquire two highly valuable assets: Burritos or Bitcoin.”
Fun and creative campaigns deserve credit and with this type of out-of-the-box thinking, Chipotle will be the first U.S. restaurant brand to offer a cryptocurrency giveaway to consumers.
