Easter is upon us and and our tummies are clearing some much necessary room for too much food and candy before we wash it down with some mandatory shots of eggnog. What’s not being served at the average Easter lunch table are big wins but I’m here to try to add it to the menu.
Wazdan has cooked up something special for us all so let’s dig in and see what’s hiding underneath the pretty packaging of Larry the Leprechaun Easter.
I normally don’t associate Leprechauns with egg painting and bunnies but who really knows what’s hiding underneath that spectacular green hat. Is the luck of the Irish in full bloom during Easter? Of course. Let’s say hello to Larry as he juggles his gold coins while you try to juggle the reels and to make some of your own.
Welcome to Larry’s Enchanted Forest
Wazdan knows how to set the mode and does so with a magnificent soundtrack that immediately puts you at ease. I will gladly go on an Easter egg hunt in this enchanted forest and I’m sure the basket hanging from the tree isn’t the only one out there.
Larry the Leprechaun Easter Edition is a great looking game with a pretty good 96.47% RTP. One thing that I always appreciate with Wazdan games is the ability for players to adjust both volatility and speed to your own liking. I think leaving that up to the player is the way to go and I don’t think I’m the only one.
Right away you can tell there is a lot going on on the screen and I am all for it with the 3 main features being:
- Leprechaun’s Spin Bonus
- Free Spins Bonus
- Magic Sack Bonus
Leprechaun’s Spin Bonus
It may be easter but instead of chocolate eggs, you want to collect coins and in this case, the gold ones. Fill up the table on the right side of the reels and when it’s as full as any Leprechaun’s appetite for gold, one more step remains.
You need to land another 5 gold coins in one spin before you can start reaping what you’ve sowed, your Leprechaun’s Bonus Spins. This can sometimes be easier said than done so be patient.
Each spin will cost you one gold coin off the table and you have 16 of them. You want to collect Leprechaun wilds and every time one lands, it becomes sticky. Rack up as many of them as possible during your 16 spins and in the end you will hopefully get a big, fat payout.
I managed to get quite a bit of wilds on the reels but it didn’t quite result in the massive win I had hoped for.
Free Spins Bonus
Then there’s the silver version of the same, known as Free Spins Bonus. The same setup applies, fill it up and land 5 silver coins to trigger 16 Free Spins.
I had higher hopes for the actual Free Spins game but even though it switched to a new screen, it wasn’t as exciting as I would have liked.
Magic Sack Bonus
The name leaves it wide open for some immature jokes but I will refrain myself from making them.
This little nugget sits on the opposite side of the reels. Instead of 16 squares to fill, there are only 8. When a sack lands on the reels, it actually steals some of your hard earned coins from your collection on the right, which honestly felt quite annoying. After all, you fight pretty hard to fill those tables and then this guy comes in and scoops them up. Relax and take a breath!
When you’ve collected 8 magic sacks, it takes one more to trigger the feature. A random symbol is chosen as the Sack Symbol and will turn wild and sticky when it lands.
This time the luck of the Irish finally appeared and I managed to fill almost the entire grid and received a nice 40 MBCH payout. Finally!
Double Your Money With the Gamble Feature
It doesn’t really matter how much you win, if there’s a chance you can double it, it will at least cross your mind. Thanks to the Gamble feature, you can make it happen.
There’s no way I would put it to the test after every win but every now and then it can be fun. I wouldn’t risk a big win though but a medium size win can be worth it.
Red or Black
Your shot at doubling your money comes down to red or black. Pick the color you believe will come up and leave the rest to the casino Gods.
I have to be honest and tell you that I tried the Gamble feature 4 times and I lost every single time. That’s not how you make a good first impression, Larry the Leprechaun!
Conclusion
Come on, Wazdan. Hanging a basket full of painted Easter eggs in a tree doesn’t make it an Easter slot. Yes, it’s a great looking game but if you ask me, there is zero Easter vibe outside of that basket.
With that said, the Larry the Leprechaun Easter Edition is still a fun slot with a lot of great features. I quickly noticed that my focus was pretty much on filling up the matrix tables with coins and sometimes you really have to work for it, especially that last coin.
I didn’t think any of the features lived up to my expectations but that could be my fault for thinking they would be something out of the ordinary. Either way, I still prefer having the features in place, so thanks for that Wazdan.
Beautiful setting with a relaxing soundtrack makes visiting Larry a real treat. Not an Easter treat, but still a treat.
Would I play it again? Yes, I would. Thanks to the features, there are a lot of opportunities to make some money and after all, isn’t that what it’s all about?
You can find Larry and his friends at places like mBit, BitStarz and KingBilly!
