Cerberus Gold Lock n Win Review – Unleash the Hound of Hades

I am very glad that there isn’t a breed of vicious, mouth frothing 3-headed dogs like the Hound of Hades running around out there. As a matter of fact, I think everyone is, with the exception of some drug dealers and rappers, trying to look like a badass of course.

There are few that could be groomed for the job of guarding the Gates of Hell and good ol’ Cerberus, did a great job from what I understand. Cerberus is actually a pretty cool name though so it’s a bit surprising it’s not a name we see more often. With that said, it has now been brought back to life in the brand new slot called Cerberus Gold Lock n Win by Quickfire.

A Slot Worthy of a Savage Canine

As expected, a canine of Cerberus’ caliber will only back a slot that can be just as savage and with a volatility set at “Very High,” I believe we have found the right one.  I hear pepper spray is an effective weapon against dog attacks but I feel like I’m basically the dog whisperer and will take my chances.

Graphics That Will Keep You on Your Toes

If you take everything out of it and only look at the colors etc, the game does have a childish feel to it and doesn’t exactly seem up to par with today’s level of graphics. But, that all goes out the window because of the dogs! From the moment the game begins, there’s a tension in the air and it’s coming from above the reels and I like it.

I know it’s supposed to be ONE dog but it feels like three so I’ll treat it that way. These guys won’t let you out of their sight and you almost feel compelled to keep pressing spin. It’s rare that I get that feeling from a slot and I am definitely intrigued and look forward to finding out more about what lies beneath the surface. 

The game has a 5×3 reel setup which can open up to a 5×6 version. Also, as far as paylines go, it will vary from 243 all the way up to 7,776.

Orb Multipliers and Other Features

It is of course the Lock n Win feature that captains the ship but before we dig into that one, let’s take a look at some of the other helpers out there. 

• Fireball

As you can see in the image above, there are red fireballs with a value attached to them. These guys can be worth anywhere from 0.1x to 100x your bet.

• Collect 

In order for you to collect that cash on your screen, you need to land a Collect symbol. You can’t miss it because it actually says “Collect” on it so it doesn’t get much easier than that. Oh, and it can only appear on reel number 5.

• Orb Multiplier

Here’s a guy that can help you increase your wins by giving you a multiplier. You can spot the size of your multiplier at all times as it sits in the bottom right of your screen. Do you see the little green skull floating across the reels in the screenshot? If you’re wondering where it’s going, it’s on its way to give your multiplier a +1 boost.

Your 4x Multiplier is about to be added to your Fireballs

Your multiplier can get as high as 10x but it will only be added to your Fireball values when you land the Collect symbol I just mentioned. When this is done, unfortunately you’ll see your multiplier be reset back down to 1x.

The dogs above the reels are hungry and won’t do anything for free besides scaring players into keep playing. Just like regular dogs, you should give them a treat from time to time and these guys love their coins.

Each dog has its own color of course and the respective coin will come in a matching color of course. It can be either Orange, Yellow or Pink. I enjoyed the graphics whenever you feel them and I’m sure some players will find it a bit scary even.

Since triggering the Lock n Win is completely random, any given coin can be the one getting the job done. Keep in mind that there are 3 different types of Lock n Win and it all comes down to the color of the coin and dog.

Unleash the Hounds

The 3 possibilities of Lock n Win are: Multiply, Jackpot and Supreme. I somehow got lucky and actually managed to trigger two of them at the same time, making things even more exciting. Basically the way it works is the same as any Hold and Win version.

Just to give you a quick run through of the difference between them:

• Multiply (Orange) – Begins with a 2x multiplier and will increase and be added to your wins. It can get as big as 100x. 
• Jackpot (Yellow) – Gives you a chance at the Jackpots on the right. You’ll have to fill in all the holes of a particular Jackpot to get it. Once isn’t enough. 
• Supreme – Will collect all your Fireballs as they land.

You will start off with 3 Respins and whenever you land another symbol, your count will reset and you’ll have another 3 shots at making something happen.

As the Jackpot Lock n Win was one of the ones I triggered, I had a chance to score a big win. Pretty early on I managed to collect both coins needed for the Micro Jackpot. It was only €2 but still. A little later on I was on my way to the Minor Jackpot as well but I only managed to land one of the green coins, which obviously wasn’t enough.

More Multipliers

You could see a reel get Green and that’s because of a potential multiplier. In this case you can see the 6x hiding in the color and if you can land a Fireball on that reel, you will get an immediate 6x multiplier. Unfortunately I didn’t have any luck.

An Action Filled Bonus Round

We both know it’s far from a guarantee that you get to the Bonus Round so I’m glad I was able to get there. You can use the Buy Bonus feature but then you’ll have to cough up the asking price which varies from 30x your bet all the way up to 72x. I wasn’t overly excited about paying that kind of money.

The Bonus Round itself was actually quite fun as there were a lot of things happening. I want to see action when I’m in there and Cerberus Gold Lock n Win has plenty of it, making me want to get back there again and again.

My run came to an end after I wasn’t able to land any more symbols but I was happy with a total win of $7.52.

Cerberus Gold Lock n Win – Pass or Play?

Yes! I had a great time playing with the dogs and I have no problem going back for more, no matter how much they try to scare me. The game has a lot of good features and it feels like every spin adds to the excitement because all it takes is one coin to trigger the Lock n Win.
